New Zealand tour of England, 1st ODI: England v New Zealand at Lord's, May 31, 2013
New Zealand won by 5 wickets (with 19 balls remaining)
Played at Lord's, London
31 May 2013 (50-over match)

Southee to Bell, OUT, full and wide, driven at and nicks it behind Southee does the job again in drawing Bell out to drive, it swung away a little and Bell got a thick outside edge which was safely collected by Ronchi for his first catch for New Zealand. Full and a bit of swing and Southee is in business yet again

IR Bell c †Ronchi b Southee 18 (46m 26b 3x4 0x6) SR: 69.23

England 45/1   AN Cook 25* (36b 4x4)   TG Southee 2.2-0-11-1

Southee to Cook, OUT, full length, driven at edged and gone and Southee's straightforward modus operandi does the trick again. Full and sliding past Cook who drives at it and edges to Ronchi who again takes a solid catch

AN Cook c †Ronchi b Southee 30 (60m 45b 5x4 0x6) SR: 66.66

England 50/2   IJL Trott 0* (5b)   TG Southee 3.4-1-11-2

NL McCullum to Root, OUT, tries to be cute again and Root is bowled reverse-sweeping! McCullum tossed it up on middle and off, it perhaps hurried on a touch and Root missed trying to take the ball through the off side. Ring-a-ding-ding go the stumps

JE Root b NL McCullum 30 (58m 40b 1x4 0x6) SR: 75.00

England 117/3   IJL Trott 36* (49b 3x4)   NL McCullum 5.4-0-23-1

NL McCullum to Trott, OUT, scoops across the line and picks out deep midwicket, McCullum has another! Trott went looking for a boundary but halfway between a slog-sweep and a controlled paddle, the ball sailing neatly into the hands of the fielder a few feet in from the rope

IJL Trott c Taylor b NL McCullum 37 (84m 53b 3x4 0x6) SR: 69.81

England 124/4   EJG Morgan 6* (7b 1x4)   NL McCullum 6.3-0-28-2

McClenaghan to Morgan, OUT, banged in again and Morgan swats across the line, a big edge balloons into the air and he's caught behind standing yards out of his crease! Think Mitch saw him coming, Morgan making a slight movement and then thinking about pulling out of the shot as the ball went away from him, taking the top of the toe-end and giving Ronchi his third catch

EJG Morgan c †Ronchi b McClenaghan 6 (15m 9b 1x4 0x6) SR: 66.66

England 126/5   JC Buttler 2* (3b)   MJ McClenaghan 7.2-0-36-1

Williamson to Buttler, OUT, flatter delivery, Buttler tries to take it on, another reverse sweep and it loops straight to point! Frustration claims Buttler, who couldn't have picked out the man any better. Another wheel comes off the battlewagon

JC Buttler c McClenaghan b Williamson 14 (41m 25b 1x4 0x6) SR: 56.00

England 159/6   CR Woakes 19* (33b 1x4)   KS Williamson 1.2-0-9-1

Mills to Woakes, OUT, oh, Kelly, what have you done! Woakes attempts to hit Mills into the Abbey Road, he's nowhere near the pitch and it comes off somewhere near the bottom of the bat, sails high into the off side and is safely pouched by the cover sweeper coming in. England lose a fourth batsman in the 30s

CR Woakes c Guptill b Mills 36 (59m 53b 2x4 0x6) SR: 67.92

England 182/7   TT Bresnan 5* (10b)   KD Mills 9.2-0-33-1

Southee to Bresnan, OUT, slower ball, inside edge and bowled him! Clever bowling from Southee, an offcutter duping Bresnan as he attempted to bombard the cows in their special corner

TT Bresnan b Southee 25 (41m 32b 2x4 0x6) SR: 78.12

England 216/8   GP Swann 10* (9b 1x4)   TG Southee 9.3-2-32-3

McClenaghan to Swann, OUT, pitched up in the channel and Swann drills this straight to mid-off. A second wicket for McClenaghan ends the England innings nine down for what most will feel is a below-par 227

GP Swann c NL McCullum b McClenaghan 15 (29m 14b 2x4 0x6) SR: 107.14

England 227/9   JM Anderson 5* (4b 1x4)   MJ McClenaghan 10-0-49-2
