Sri Lanka tour of England and Scotland, 5th ODI: England v Sri Lanka at Manchester, Jul 9, 2011
England won by 16 runs
9 July 2011 (50-over match)

Randiv to Cook, OUT, all over for Cook! Very positive move to take the batting Powerplay but he's undone by Randiv here. Cook runs down the wicket, aims a big heave but some big turn leaves him stranded. Sangakkara has an age to take the bails off but it's been a positive start from Cook

AN Cook st †Sangakkara b Randiv 31 (55m 35b 3x4 0x6) SR: 88.57

England 85/1   C Kieswetter 41* (42b 5x4 1x6)   S Randiv 1.5-0-7-1

Prasad to Kieswetter, OUT, Kieswetter gone now! It's an England Powerplay special! This kept a touch low but it was fullish and straight and burst through Kieswetter's defences to rattle the stumps. Prasad is delirious and has every right to be!

C Kieswetter b Prasad 43 (59m 44b 5x4 1x6) SR: 97.72

England 87/2   IJL Trott 0* (1b)   KTGD Prasad 2.2-0-7-1

Prasad to Pietersen, OUT, Pietersen falls! Sri Lanka are right back in this now! Extra bounce was the key. Outside off, Pietersen aimed a back-foot drive but could only succeed in edging behind

KP Pietersen c †Sangakkara b Prasad 5 (11m 7b 0x4 0x6) SR: 71.42

England 95/3   IJL Trott 3* (9b)   KTGD Prasad 3.5-0-11-2

Dilshan to Morgan, OUT, well, where's that come from? Morgan walks down the wicket but doesn't get close to a flat offspinner from Dilshan, the ball buzzing past the outside edge and Sangakkara quickly whipping the bails off. Against the run of play, Sri Lanka have got the breakthrough. It's timely too, Morgan would surely have looked to up the tempo sooner rather than later

EJG Morgan st †Sangakkara b Dilshan 57 (84m 60b 2x4 0x6) SR: 95.00

England 213/4   IJL Trott 61* (74b 3x4)   TM Dilshan 5.4-0-36-1

Randiv to Bell, OUT, Bell skips down the wicket and chips straight to long-on! Timed it better than he wanted to I guess but it makes for another failure down the order for Bell. Doesn't look a natural No. 6 at all, largely because he isn't one

IR Bell c Kulasekara b Randiv 4 (8m 8b 0x4 0x6) SR: 50.00

England 222/5   IJL Trott 66* (81b 3x4)   S Randiv 7.1-0-29-2

Randiv to Trott, OUT, gone! How odd is this!? It was a touch short from Randiv, bounced more than Trott thought as he tried to pull, came off the thigh, then onto his arm and rolled down onto the stumps. Trott tried to kick it away but couldn't get there

IJL Trott b Randiv 72 (118m 87b 3x4 0x6) SR: 82.75

England 233/6   SR Patel 4* (8b)   S Randiv 8.3-0-37-3

Randiv to Patel, OUT, Patel goes now! Randiv has another, England stumbling! The building pressure told for him. Tried to break the shackles with a big shot down the ground but only managed to slice it up to cover where Mathews juggled the take, he's really got terrible hands!

SR Patel c Mathews b Randiv 8 (20m 14b 0x4 0x6) SR: 57.14

England 243/7   TT Bresnan 6* (13b)   S Randiv 9.4-0-42-4

Randiv to Bresnan, OUT, five for Randiv! England in a spin again! This is really laboured from Bresnan. He tried to drag a pull but ended up with one hand off the bat and a gentle top edge that looped simply to Sangakkara

TT Bresnan c †Sangakkara b Randiv 6 (12m 15b 0x4 0x6) SR: 40.00

England 243/8   GP Swann 0* (0b)   S Randiv 10-0-42-5

Kulasekara to Anderson, OUT, oh dear! Anderson was so desperate to get Swann on strike that he pushed to cover and shaped to run, Swann had gone too far and when the throw came at the bowler's end Swann couldn't get back in time

GP Swann run out 5 (16m 9b 0x4 0x6) SR: 55.55

England 253/9   JM Anderson 3* (10b)   KMDN Kulasekara 7.1-0-46-0
