Arnold Dyson holds the record for 305 consecutive appearances in Championship cricket between 1930 and 1947. During this time, the steady opening batsman formed a most productive partnership with Emrys Davies. The Dyson-Davies combination is still amongst the most successful in Glamorgan`s history, with the pair sharing 32 century partnerships. The right-handed batsman and occasional wicket-keeper had moved from his native Yorkshire to South Wales during the mid 1920`s after having failed to secure a place on the county`s staff. He subsequently qualified for the Welsh county and made his Glamorgan debut in 1926. He soon won a regular place in the side, and developed into one of the most reliable opening batsmen on the county circuit, passing a thousand runs in every season from 1931 until 1947, with the exception of 1936 when he fell 65 runs short of the target after a loss of form in July.
