Profile

Manchester-born seamer Chris Ashling had popped up on Lancashire's radar before his 16th birthday, first representing their Second XI in 2004, before heading to Glamorgan mid-way through the 2007 season. He combined studies with cricket, playing for the Cardiff University Centre of Cricketing Excellence and Glamorgan's Second XI before making his first-class debut against Leicestershire in September 2009. He was in and out of the first team in 2010, but responded to a couple of early opportunities in 2011 in fine fashion, taking 4 for 47 against Surrey in May.
