Mackay, P., who died in Thiruvananthapuram on April 29, 2002, aged 52, was the
first bowler to take ten wickets in a match for Kerala. He did so with five for 36 and five for 82 against Andhra Pradesh at Guntur in December 1974. In 12 first-class games between 1972-73 and 1974-75, all in the Ranji Trophy, he took 24 wickets at 31.29 and scored 209 runs at 13.06. Mackay was the Kerala Cricket Association coach for some years.
