ECB Media Release
June 17, 2002
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) today confirmed that Middlesex cricketer, Paul Weekes, has received three penalty points under the ECB's new discipline code following an incident during Middlesex's Norwich Union League fixture with Gloucestershire at Bristol yesterday.
Weekes was reported by the umpires Allan Jones and John Hampshire for a Level Two breach of the new code (showing serious dissent at an umpire's decision by word or action).
The penalty points remain on Weekes's record for a period of 12 months. The accumulation of nine or more penalty points in any 12-month period will result in an automatic suspension.
The ECB's new discipline code came into force at the start of this season.
