Phil Edmonds, the former England and Middlesex spinner, has been elected to the ECB's management board for a two-year term, starting on January 1 next year.

Edmonds, currently Middlesex's chairman, replaces Stephen Coverdale, who did not ask for re-election to the post following his decision to stand down as Northamptonshire's chief executive.

"Stephen has served on the management board since the inception of the ECB in 1997," Tim Lamb, ECB's chief executive, said. "Throughout that time he has been an immensely hard working and supportive member of the board and he has made a significant contribution to the work of the ECB and to cricket in general."
