Simon Jones has left England's one-day squad for a week to undergo rehabilitation on his right knee. Although he was given the all-clear after a scan on Friday, he will miss the next two NatWest Series matches against Bangladesh and Australia, and could also be kept out of contention for the second match against Bangladesh at Headingley on Sunday, June 26.
His place in the squad will be taken by the Hampshire seamer Chris Tremlett although it is likely that Michael Vaughan will retain the same side that defeated Bangladesh by ten wickets at The Oval on Thursday. Jones injured his knee in the warm-up before the Bangladesh match on Thursday, and the ECB confirmed that the problem was not related to the injury he sustained against Australia in 2002. "Simon has gone off to do a week's rehabilitation work on his knee," said Vaughan, "and we hope to see him back but this is a good opportunity for Chris Tremlett."
