Phil Edmonds, the former England left-arm spinner, has stood down as chairman of Middlesex midway through the season, citing pressures of business.
Edmonds, who has been chairman for eight years, telephoned Vinny Codrington, the chief executive, to say that he was out of the country for a general meeting and that his commitments meant that he was increasingly unable to devote the time to Middlesex that he wished.
Ian Lovett, the chairman of Dunbar Bank and a member of the executive committee, agreed to take charge until the next AGM.
