Gloucestershire have announced that Carl Greenidge, who was already leaving the county at the end of the season, is quitting with immediate effect.
"Having talked this through with Carl it was unlikely that he would play much in the next couple of months so it became clear that this was the best course of action for both him and the club," Tom Richardson, Gloucestershire's chief executive, said.
"We would like to thank him for his contributions to the team over the past four years. Carl is a popular player with both the squad and the off the field team and he will be missed. We wish him every success."
