ECB appoints Geoff Miller as Fourth Selector

The England and Wales Cricket (ECB) today announced the appointment of the former England, Derbyshire and Essex off-spinner Geoff Miller as a fourth selector

The England and Wales Cricket (ECB) today announced the appointment of the former England, Derbyshire and Essex off-spinner Geoff Miller as a fourth selector.
Miller, 47, who played 34 Test Matches for England between 1976 and 1984, joins a selection panel which includes the Chairman of Selectors, David Graveney, England Coach Duncan Fletcher and England Captain Nasser Hussain.
His appointment was agreed following today's meeting of the England Management Advisory Committee (EMAC) and will be for a two year term.
The ECB's International Teams Director, Simon Pack, said: "We were keen to recruit a fourth selector as Duncan and Nasser's international commitments will limit the amount of time they can devote to domestic cricket this summer.
"Geoff was the ideal candidate as he played the game to the highest level and is also able to work flexibly and at short notice. We anticipate that he will spend up to three days a week watching County Cricket combining his new role as a selector with existing freelance work."
Miller, who played three seasons (1987-89) for Essex with Nasser Hussain, said: "I'm fully committed to my new role and hope that I can help David, Nasser and Duncan by acting as an extra pair of eyes for them around the County circuit monitoring the progress of promising young players."
