NatWest Series [Australia in England] - 5th ODI

England v Australia

Australia won by 4 wickets (with 10 balls remaining)

13.2

Hauritz to Strauss, OUT, the reverse sweep costs him his wicket, he's onto the shot too early and the ball doesn't spin too much and clips him low on the front pad, after a fairly prolonged appeal Asad Rauf is convinced, that had to have hit just the off stump, I'd like to see another replay of that. I think I saw an under edge, not the cleanest of dismissals

AJ Strauss lbw b Hauritz 35 (56m 38b 6x4 0x6) SR: 92.10

England 61/1   JL Denly 24* (43b 3x4)   NM Hauritz 1.2-0-9-1

19.4

Watson to Bopara, OUT, goes for the home run, gets a lot of elevation but not the desired distance, Bopara gets his front pad across and lofts across the line, Hauritz is there at deep square leg and he takes it comfortably

RS Bopara c Hauritz b Watson 18 (27m 21b 1x4 0x6) SR: 85.71

England 95/2   JL Denly 39* (60b 5x4)   SR Watson 3.4-0-9-1

22.3

Johnson to Denly, OUT, that's another give-away I'm afraid, Johnson angles it across the right-hander from round the wicket and Denly shuffles right across and whips it high in the air over the on side, catching practice for Hussey running forward from deep square leg

JL Denly c Hussey b Johnson 45 (99m 68b 5x4 0x6) SR: 66.17

England 105/3   MJ Prior 4* (9b)   MG Johnson 4.3-0-30-1

33.3

Hauritz to Prior, OUT, gifts his wicket away, he comes down the pitch but Hauritz cleverly drops it short, the ball turns, grips and goes through the gate between bat and pad, Paine whips off the bails and Prior doesn't even bother to get back, didn't have to because he was a long way down

MJ Prior st †Paine b Hauritz 37 (47m 44b 3x4 0x6) SR: 84.09

England 165/4   OA Shah 26* (31b 3x4)   NM Hauritz 9.3-0-51-2

38.1

Johnson to Shah, OUT, tame again, the England batsmen don't seem to have a very long shelf life going by the evidence today, Johnson lands it outside off and gets it to straighten, Shah pokes at it and gets a thickish outside edge to Paine

OA Shah c †Paine b Johnson 31 (57m 41b 3x4 0x6) SR: 75.60

England 192/5   EJG Morgan 21* (18b 1x4 1x6)   MG Johnson 7.1-0-47-2

41.6

Watson to Mascarenhas, OUT, his eventful cameo comes to an end, Watson changes the pace and Mascarenhas doesn't pick the slower one, he mows him across the line but finds Johnson at short midwicket

AD Mascarenhas c Johnson b Watson 19 (17m 13b 3x4 0x6) SR: 146.15

England 230/6   EJG Morgan 39* (29b 3x4 2x6)   SR Watson 8-0-48-2

46.6

Siddle to Broad, OUT, that's a direct hit, Broad pushes it to mid-off and wants a single, Morgan hesitates but they go through with it and the direct hit by Ponting finds Broad short of his ground

SCJ Broad run out 22 (21m 20b 2x4 0x6) SR: 110.00

England 267/7   EJG Morgan 54* (39b 3x4 3x6)   PM Siddle 9-1-42-0

47.3

Bracken to Morgan, OUT, he goes for another reverse paddle, but this time he gets a top edge and Siddle gets under it at point

EJG Morgan c Siddle b Bracken 58 (65m 41b 4x4 3x6) SR: 141.46

England 272/8   AU Rashid 1* (1b)   NW Bracken 7.3-1-42-1

48.3

Siddle to Bresnan, OUT, full outside off and Bresnan makes room and scoops it straight to Bracken at extra cover

TT Bresnan c Bracken b Siddle 4 (2m 3b 1x4 0x6) SR: 133.33

England 278/9   AU Rashid 3* (4b)   PM Siddle 9.3-1-47-1

49.6

Johnson to Sidebottom, OUT, tries to cut a short delivery outside off but he misses, they attempt to steal a bye but Paine under-arms the ball onto the stumps with the batsman well short

AU Rashid run out 18 (14m 9b 3x4 0x6) SR: 200.00

England 299/10   RJ Sidebottom 3* (4b)   MG Johnson 10-0-80-2
