Gamini Dissanayake was one of the umpires who was pulled up by the Sri Lankan board following a sting operation by an Indian television channel over illegal payments for influencing first-class games. Dissanayake had been the fourth umpire in many international matches, though he hadn't been one of the main officials. However, following the sting operation, he was downgraded from the top panel of umpires for a year and issued a severe warning by the board CEO.
