Hello and Welcome to the 2nd day's play of the 3rd Test between England and Sri Lanka to be played at Trent Bridge.

After an interesting first day's play which belonged to England, Sri Lanka will be looking forward to Vaas and Muralitharan to bring them back into the game. On the other hand, England will be looking to consolidate by putting up a big score as they have done in this whole series.

Muralitharan will be keen to finish off in a style in what maybe his last Test series in this soil and hope there is plenty of action to come around.

It's now over to Arun Gopalakrishnan for some trivia and analysis:

Thanks Gautam. Yesterday was a day full of action, and there's no reason to believe today won't be another such day. In the middle of all the action were two individuals who were in the thick of things and today's trivia is about these two individuals - the Umpires - Rudi Koertzen and Darrell Hair

Cricinfo Triva: It's pretty interesting to note that the careers of Darrell Hair and Rudi Koertzen - umpires officiating in this test match - has run almost parallell to each other's. Rudi made his debut as a test umpire in the Boxing Day test of 1992, while Hair stood in a test for the first time in January 1992. After almost 14 years of Umpiring at the highest level, Rudi is now officiating in his 75th test match, while Darrell Hair is in his 74th test. Only the legendary David Shepherd (92 tests), and now Steve Bucknor (going strong at 111 test matches) have more experience than Rudi and Darrell when one talks about having officiated in test matches.

The Umpires are out in the middle now, and I can see the Sri Lankan players followed by the two English batsmen walk out to the part too. We should have live action from the 2nd day's play shortly, and it's over to Gautham to take you through all the live action. I'll be back with you shortly during the course of this match from time-to-time

=================================================================================

So a day that started off well for Sri Lanka but a ten minute spell knocked them back onto the back foot. Muralitharan and Vaas provided some entertainment towards the end of the innings by putting on 50+ for the last wicket that gives Sri Lanka a respectable first innings score of 231.

England looked to make a good start but the loss of Strauss and the run out of Trescothick put them on the backfoot.

What will tomorrow hold, be sure to be here with us as we bring you the days play.
