NatWest Series [West Indies in England] - 2nd ODI

England v West Indies

England won by 6 wickets (with 84 balls remaining)

10.40am England take the field. Gayle and Simmons walk out. There could be some moisture on this pitch. Anderson warms up, final words from Strauss

10.35am I'm informed that it's warm and sunny in Bristol. Terrific news.

The other big distraction today is that of the IPL final between Deccan Chargers and Royal Challengers Bangalore. The second half of this game will clash with the final so keep two scorecards open. I was told there's barely any coverage of the IPL in England. Let's see how things pan out tonight. It's a Super Sunday.

Here's the West Indies line-up:

1 Chris Gayle, 2 Lendl Simmons, 3 Ramnaresh Sarwan, 4 Shivnarine Chanderpaul, 5 Dwayne Bravo, 6 Kieron Pollard, 7 Denesh Ramdin (wk), 8 Darren Sammy, 9 Jerome Taylor, 10 Ravi Rampaul, 11 Sulieman Benn

No Fidel Edwards for this game but I'm not sure why. Rampaul gets his chance.

10.23am Alright England have won the toss and they will bowl first.

1 Andrew Strauss (capt), 2 Ravi Bopara, 3 Matt Prior (wk), 4 Owais Shah, 5 Paul Collingwood, 6 Eoin Morgan, 7 Dimitri Mascarenhas, 8 Stuart Broad, 9 Graeme Swann, 10 Tim Bresnan, 11 James Anderson

So the news in that line-up is that Morgan will debut for England. He has already played 23 ODIs for Ireland so that makes him a double international. What happened to Ed Joyce?

We'll bring you the West Indies team very shortly.

Charlie already has a comment on this England line-up: "Is there anyone who thinks that TT Bresnan is worthy for an England cap? I definitely do not, he is not up to the current standards of international cricket, and as soon as Simon Jones is fit again, he should be replaced. If Bresnan gets more than one wicket in this match i'll eat my hat..."

Strong words. I wonder if Jones is shaping up well. Bresnan swung it quite a bit in the Test at Durham recently.

10.20am We're still waiting for news of the toss and teams. Looks like Eoin Morgan will make his debut today.

10.00am Good morning/afternoon/night wherever you are and welcome to Cricinfo's coverage of the second ODI between England and West Indies in Bristol. This is virtually the start of the series, after the first game at Headingley was washed out without a ball being bowled. The toss is 15 minutes so hang on. I'll get you the news as soon as I can.

"A reply to Charlie who was mentioning Simon Jones earlier...I think it's time English cricket moves on from Jones, however sad that is, because his body just doesn't seem up to it. We should view it as a huge bonus if he ever returns at the top level - and I doubt he will."
