Basil Foster, who died in Hillingdon Hospital on September 28, aged 77, was one of the brothers who did so much for Worcestershire in the early part of the century that the county became known in cricketing circles as Fostershire. He also appeared on occasion for Middlesex. As an actor, he gained prominence on the London stage and later took up theatrical management.
