Dennis Kay represented Central Districts as an opening right-arm medium-pace bowler between 1974-75 and 1977-78. By far his best season was 1976-77 when he finished with 33 wickets at 16.48, including a career-best 7 for 62 (and match figures of 11 for 138) against Canterbury. He also took 3 for 60 and 4 for 38 in a losing cause against Otago in the Shell Trophy final ten days later.
