Tom Birtle was a tall quickish bowler who played seven first-class matches for Nottinghamshire while on their books in 1952. He also played for Durham between 1945 and 1955 in the era before the gained first-class status, as well as turning out as a professional in the Yorkshire leagues until 1960.
