Scorecard

Left-arm pacer Usman Khan's maiden five-wicket haul in Twenty20 matches, as well as a quickfire fifty from Haris Sohail, helped Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited thump Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited by 78 runs in Lahore and secure the Faysal Bank Department T20 Cup. Usman, who finished with match-winning figures of 5 for 9, also ended the tournament as the leading wicket-taker.

Chasing a mammoth 185 in an electrifying atmosphere at the Gaddafi Stadium, SNGPL began their chase poorly, as Usman stunned them with a double strike in the opening over. Mohammad Rizwan was the first to depart after edging behind to the keeper Shakeel Ansar, and two deliveries later, Taufeeq Umar was bowled for a two-ball duck.

With the pressure starting to mount on SNGPL, Usman struck again in his second over, dismissing Ali Waqas and Misbah-ul-Haq as the team slumped to 9 for 4- a point of no recovery. The pitch still looked good for runs, however, and Umar Akmal capitalized, smashing 16 runs off Mohammad Khalil in the fourth over, but his 19-run cameo ended when he carved a catch to Usman at third man.

Bilalawal Bhatti, who made his Pakistan debut last month, was the only form of resistance for SNGPL. He made 38 off 20 balls with two sixes and five fours, but eventually slashed a top edge back to Ansar in the 12th over. Medium-pacer Imran Khan chipped in with three wickets, as SNGPL were bundled out for 106 in 16.1 overs.

Earlier, ZTBL, put in to bat, made a flying start as Imran Nazir and Sharjeel Khan opened the inning with a blitzing 85-run stand, but they were both trapped lbw by Imran Ali in the 10th over.

The team's run rate began to fall as Yasir Hameed and Sohail took some time to settle, but once they found their feet, they anchored the innings with a 54-run third-wicket stand. Hameed was removed for 32, but Sohail added a late surge to the innings. His 32-ball 58 which included five fours and three sixes, eventually helped the team to 184 for 3.

I saw just the highlights of his 5 wickets haul. His has got a great action and he runs very quickly and smoothly, there's no pause and he's Medium fast so he's definitely a prospect for Paksitan plus he's only 19. I wish I knew how tall he is...

The new kid Usman Shanwari has just played 9 first class matches.. so @mahi_Kashimir his best is yet to come.. Give him a year to play the domestic structure and with Pakistan A team then assess him.

Give me a break guys, Usman bowled well under The lights, but his previous best bowling was 2/35 , He doesn't look fit, he needs to work out on his fitness and pace. I don't think he would make it to national Team.. Plz don't over hype about him. Let him enjoy the game.

Great Swing bowling by Usman khan but poor batting display by batsmen. It was only one way swing, inswing for lefthander and outswing for righthanders which was too easy to handle specially for Misbah.Pakistan should seriously work on batting techniques.

  • on December 4, 2013, 4:32 GMT

brilliant swing bowling of usman khan he should be in the plaan for Ntional team in palce of some dull bowler like tanvir, wahab, asad ali etc

  • on December 4, 2013, 4:31 GMT

As for as my idea is concern. The young talented Usman khan should be the part of Pk team against Sri Lanka instead of Sohail Tanveer....And also Haris Sohail should be instead of Asad Shafique ......

  • on December 4, 2013, 4:31 GMT

Usman Shinwari is a good prospect for Pakistan he's got pace swing and accuracy he dismissed Misbah and Taufeeq Umar beautifully...............

  • on December 4, 2013, 2:31 GMT

Fantastic spell by young usman shinwari good swing bowling allah gave to u opportunity to play international game. Good luck

  • on December 3, 2013, 21:39 GMT

Outstanding spell by Usman Khan. The youngster can swing the ball viciously (only one way though). Raw talent and a great future prospect. Sharjeel and Haris look quite sound. Let's hope the selectors give them consistent opportunities. Haris Sohail has a mature head and needs to be playing in all formats for Pakistan. PLEASE DON't DROP YOUNGSTERS AFTER 2/3 FAILURES. Once you pick them then stick to them.

  • on December 3, 2013, 21:25 GMT

What a bowler he is. I am happy with his performance. I think more people from KPK should be preferred as a bowler and all rounders.

  • on December 3, 2013, 20:28 GMT

I would prefer Afridi and Irfan and Juanid Khan's workload should be managed... backup bowlers should be sadaf hussain, Hammad azam and anwar ali... with raza hassan and zulfiqar babaer as backup apinners...

  • Haz95 on December 3, 2013, 18:22 GMT

LOL, ZTBL seems as tho they are a better team than the Pakistan international XI. I believe Sharjeel and Haris will have a good future, providing pak stick with them. Sharjeel I believe does however need to rotate the strike a fair bit more tho.... Sharjeel,Shehzad,Maqsood,Akmal,Ul Haq,Sohail,Hafeez,B Bhatti,Afridi,Ajmal, J khan, Mohammed Irfan. 3 pacers, 3 spinners. 7 batsmen. Wow if Pak used this team...In ODis

Finally Pakistani youngsters put in some good performances, my fav young gun Haris Sohail once again proved why he deserves to be recalled to Pak cricket after not getting fair chances to cement his place. He is going to be one of Pakistan's best middle order batsmen, just give him the chance and you will see.

  • on December 3, 2013, 17:38 GMT

Splendid spell of left arm fast, swing bowling by Usman Khan Shanwari. Looks like he learnt a lesson or two from Wasim Akram's Masterclass on star sports last evening!! Good to see such talent.
