Profile

Stanley Taylor was a better footballer than cricketer, winning Blues as a forward/right wing between 1896 and 1898, captaining Cambridge in his final year. He went on to play for the Corinthians, the leading amateur side of the time. Called to the bar in 1901, he toured South Africa with the Corinthians and stayed, becoming a leading advocate. He served with the SA Field Artillery in Palestine in the Great War and won the DSO. After the war he joined the Anglo-American Corporation in London as a South Africa director. His two first-class matches for Middlesex were unnotable.
