Hong Kong through to the final after beating Nepal by 7 wickets

Hong Kong are into the final of the ACC Women's Twenty20 Championships 2009. They reached the final by repelling a spirited challenge from Nepal.

Winning the toss and bowling first Hong Kong did a good job of containing the Nepalese team and after 10 overs Nepal had only 24 runs for 1 wicket. They did increase their pace and with some wide bowling from the Hong Kong, team finished with 76 runs for 6 from their 20 overs. Chan Sau Ha was the pick of the bowlers bowling very tightly and finishing with 5 runs from her 4 overs. Keenu Gill bowled tightly at the end and picked up a key wicket while Connie Wong picked up 2 wickets.

In reply Hong Kong lost the early wicket of Keenu Gill and were 6 for 1. Chan Sau Ha batting at no. 3 showed composure beyond her years and hit some lovely drives for 4. With 36 runs on the board Hong Kong lost their captain Neisha Pratt and Nepal tightened their bowling to put increased pressure on Connie Wong and Chan Sau Ha. Chan Sau Ha was finally out for 22 and Emma Phillips batting at number 5 scored a 4 off the first ball she faced to ease the pressure. Emma and Connie finished the job to win in the 16th over by 7 wickets. Connie finished with 15 not out while scored Emma 11 not out.

Connie Wong was named Player of the Match - her second award in the tournament.

Scorecard: Hong Kong Women v. Nepal Women

The Hong Kong Women will play Thailand Women in tomorrow's final at the Kinrara Oval. Thailand beat China by 27 runs in their semi-final match-up.
