Profile

Jill Whelan has been described by Ireland senior staff as a "demon bowler" and she is also developing into an effective allrounder and considered Ireland's most improved player. She plays for Ireland women under the captaincy of her sister Heather, while their brother Roger plays for Ireland men. Their next target is qualification for the women's World Cup - so they head to Pakistan in November 2007. She heads there on the back of some impressive bowling, including 3 for 3 against MCC, 2 for 5 against Sussex and 3 for 7 against Netherlands this summer.
