Will speak on corruption when time is right - Dhoni

ESPNcricinfo staff

India captain MS Dhoni remained unforthcoming when asked about the corruption issues in the IPL at his first press conference in England, ahead of the Champions Trophy, saying he would speak on the subject when the time was right. Dhoni, who had not been allowed to answer such questions before leaving Mumbai, only said that the reputation of Indian cricket had not "gone" and that some individuals had been more mentally weak than others.

"If I have not answered Indian journalists, there is no reason why I should answer you ... at the right time (I will speak)," he said in response to the first question on corruption in Birmingham.

Dhoni said he did not want to speak on the issue at the moment because he wanted to "keep our side away from everything as of now."

When asked if the image of Indian cricket had taken a hit, Dhoni said: "It is not that the reputation has gone. If I go ahead to explain that I would rather answer his question also. When the right time comes, I will answer it.

"As of now, I don't think we have lost the opportunity because whatever the set up is throughout the world or any sport, still you have some people who would be slightly mentally weak as compared to some of the others. I would have loved to elaborate but at the right time I will do it."

it is not about the side. its about him. whats his connection in the spot fixing. that needs to be answered. those were the questions asked first. and those he dodged in the name of the team.

Looks to be a usual outing for MSD.. He is capable of marshalling the young troops. He can bring out the good talent in each of them and give the team a good outing.!!! Hope the young indian brigade performs well and get this Coveted trophy to INDIA. This ll surely erase the SPOT FIXING memories in INDIAN FANS who respect the cricket as their life.!! The only way for MSD and CO to regain their status among the Fans is by Winning the CT..!!!

Way to guys..!!! Rock on.. Bleed blue..!!! We support yu always..!!! :)

The Indian team line up is reasonably good. I think MSD is doing great to keep the team away from what is happening around. For India to succeed in the CT I think we should bowl first as for the 1st time our team has good bowling line up which can contain the other team and then with target in mind start the chase. This has most of the times worked in India's favour. Wish the team all the best for the coming series and success.

everything looking fine about team and morale, this time its more of young and form players came in from ipl. how far the form of t20s are gonna help in 50 over format with new rules. india need player like gambhir to hold innings together upto 45th over. gauti is a class player, form is temporary, class is parmenent. with good experience he is now 31.only he can play pace as well as spin. shikar, dinesh, rohit, murali, are very good players no doubt about that , but india need a player like gautham at the top to controll the situations along with runrate .when india looses 3 early wickets , dhoni cant save everytime. rohit and dinesh got chances but they are not up to potential . how jadeja performs in batting and his main qualification to be in the team as a bowling alrounder, on the fast and bouncy pitches .as we all know about murali vijays problems with quality pace, and forever inconsistant rohit.

Well Done by MSD. Media is trying to torture him but he decently stayed away. While the IPL issue is investigation by Police, what you expect MSD to say?

Why don't the media ask Police instead of players? This is cheap publicity by Indian Media, once again.
