  • Brian Murphy was making his ODI debut. He became 58th player to represent Zimbabwe in ODIs since 1983.
  • Imran Nazir became first Pakistani and sixth fielder to hold three catches in a match against Zimbabwe. Others to do so are two Australians Allan Border (at Hobart on 14-03-1992) and Mark Waugh (at Bulawayo on 21-10-1999), two Sri Lankans Roshan Mahanama (at Sharjah on 08-04-1997) and Upul Chandana (at Bulawayo on 12-12-1999) and one Englishman Graeme Hick (at Bulawayo on 18-02-2000).
  • The previous record of most catches by a Pakistani fielder against Zimbabwe was jointly held by Wasim Akram (twice), Yousuf Youhana and Shahid Afridi.
  • Shahid Afridi made his 15th fifty plus score in his 106th match. Interestingly Afridi has a strike rate of less than 100 on just one occasion (he took 54 balls for his 53 against WestIndies at Sydney on 18-01-1997). In all Afridi has scored 1018 runs in these 15 matches off only 812 balls - a strike rate of 125.36!
  • Moin Khan's innings (25*) was the highest by a wicketkeeper captain against Zimbabwe in all matches. The previous highest was England's Alec Stewart's 12 at Nottingham on 25-05-1999.
  • Moin's innings was the second highest by a Pakistani wicketkeeper captain in all matches. The best, however still remains in the name of Rashid Latif who scored 36 against Sri Lanka at Paarl on 09-04-1998. Just for the record, New Zealand's Lee Germon holds the ODI record of playing highest individual innings as a wicketkeeper captain. Germon made 89 against Australia in Wills World Cup quarter final at Chennai on 11-03-1996.
  • Moin has now scored 220 runs in 12 matches against Zimbabwe, which takes him past Kenya's Kennedy Otieno's tally of 218 runs (from 9 matches). Now only Sri Lanka's Romesh Kaluwitharana with 252 runs in 16 matches is ahead of Moin as the leading run scorer wicketkeeper against Zimbabwe
  • Shahid Afridi won Man of the Match for the sixth time in his career.
