ICC Champions Trophy - 4th match, Group A

New Zealand v Sri Lanka

New Zealand won by 1 wicket (with 81 balls remaining)

0.1

Mills to MDKJ Perera, OUT, caught at second slip! Wow wow wow! What a catch there by the NZ skipper! Two handed, flying to his left, over his head! It was a back of length delivery that cut away from the left-hander, who got a thick outside edge that flew towards the slip cordon. McCullum flew to his left to pull off a stunner.

MDKJ Perera c BB McCullum b Mills 0 (1m 1b 0x4 0x6) SR: 0.00

Sri Lanka 0/1   TM Dilshan 0* (0b)   KD Mills 0.1-0-0-1

5.2

McClenaghan to Dilshan, OUT, ordinary shot by Dilshan as he misses a fuller length delivery and has his stumps rattled! Maybe it came in a touch, but Dilshan went forward for a lazy push towards the leg side, leaving a big gap between the bat and the pad and the ball hit the top of middle.

TM Dilshan b McClenaghan 20 (26m 18b 3x4 0x6) SR: 111.11

Sri Lanka 27/2   KC Sangakkara 6* (13b 1x4)   MJ McClenaghan 2.2-0-18-1

7.4

Vettori to Jayawardene, OUT, tossed up and slower, the batsman comes forward to defend, but this one doesn't turn at all, it misses the inside edge and thuds on to the pads.. Vettori appeals, the umpire concurs..Mahela thinks about reviewing it for a second, but then walks away.. It would have been a waste to review it as that was a very good shout

DPMD Jayawardene lbw b Vettori 4 (12m 8b 0x4 0x6) SR: 50.00

Sri Lanka 33/3   KC Sangakkara 7* (19b 1x4)   DL Vettori 0.4-0-2-1

8.5

Mills to Chandimal, OUT, a length delivery follows the shorter snorter! Chandimal was slow to come forward and gets a loud outside edge through to the keeper. Loose shot in the end and one more is back in the hut.

LD Chandimal c †Ronchi b Mills 0 (6m 4b 0x4 0x6) SR: 0.00

Sri Lanka 34/4   KC Sangakkara 8* (22b 1x4)   KD Mills 4.5-0-12-2

20.2

McClenaghan to Mathews, OUT, he has taken the leg stump down! What a blow! Angelo was looking good and was holding up the end but this time, he tries to go back and across the tickle the length delivery to the leg side, but misses it. He has walked too far across unfortunately.. A repeat of the Suresh Raina dismissal from the warm-up match between India and Australia

AD Mathews b McClenaghan 9 (49m 34b 1x4 0x6) SR: 26.47

Sri Lanka 65/5   KC Sangakkara 29* (57b 2x4)   MJ McClenaghan 4.2-0-21-2

26.3

Williamson to Sangakkara, OUT, both men are at the same end! Horrible horrible mix up! Sanga pushed it towards the right of cover fielder and took a couple of steps down. Thirimanne took it as a cue for a run and ran all the way down...But Guptill dived and stopped the ball, Sanga stopped as a result, but Thiri ran all the way down. Gutpill didn't even stop the ball cleanly, but since the two batters were at the same end, he had ample time to throw it to the non-striker's end

HDRL Thirimanne run out 9 (23m 28b 1x4 0x6) SR: 32.14

Sri Lanka 82/6   KC Sangakkara 37* (66b 2x4)   KS Williamson 1.3-0-4-0

33.3

McClenaghan to NLTC Perera, OUT, caught by mid-on! Wicket goes down just at the right time for New Zealand. It was a length ball outside off, the kind Perera loves to hit out of the ground, but this time he doesn't get hold of it. It goes high and Vettori at mid-on back pedals a few paces to take a well-judged catch

NLTC Perera c Vettori b McClenaghan 15 (32m 29b 2x4 0x6) SR: 51.72

Sri Lanka 118/7   KC Sangakkara 58* (79b 6x4)   MJ McClenaghan 6.3-0-26-3

36.2

NL McCullum to Sangakkara, OUT, caught at short third man! this could be the difference between 180 and 150! Sanga tries to drive this one over extra cover, but it wasn't full enough and he gets a thick outside edge towards backward point. Kane W moves to his left and completes and easy catch. Huge huge blow this one..

KC Sangakkara c Williamson b NL McCullum 68 (161m 87b 8x4 0x6) SR: 78.16

Sri Lanka 135/8   HMRKB Herath 7* (9b 1x4)   NL McCullum 7.2-0-23-1

36.6

NL McCullum to Eranga, OUT, tossed up outside, the batsman thinks it's time to hit it to the shorter straight boundary, but he is no Perera, hits it only as far as long-on for a simple catch. Sri Lankan innings is in shambles here.

RMS Eranga c Mills b NL McCullum 0 (3m 4b 0x4 0x6) SR: 0.00

Sri Lanka 135/9   HMRKB Herath 7* (9b 1x4)   NL McCullum 8-0-23-2

37.5

McClenaghan to Malinga, OUT, caught at slip! McC gets no. four! It was a length delivery that the batsman tries to whip it to the leg side, but he gets an outside edge that flies high towards first slip where Taylor takes a sharp catch

SL Malinga c Taylor b McClenaghan 2 (5m 3b 0x4 0x6) SR: 66.66

Sri Lanka 138/10   HMRKB Herath 8* (11b 1x4)   MJ McClenaghan 8.5-0-43-4
