ICC Champions Trophy - 8th match, Group A

England v Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka won by 7 wickets (with 17 balls remaining)

11.3

Eranga to Bell, OUT, full ball on the stumps and chipped straight to midwicket. A very poor stroke, had the whole of the on side to play into and finds the man, Bell should be very disappointed, it was a poor delivery really, drifting into the pads on a full length to be whipped away but Bell has picked out the fielder

IR Bell c Perera b Eranga 20 (48m 37b 3x4 0x6) SR: 54.05

England 48/1   AN Cook 19* (32b 2x4)   RMS Eranga 1.3-0-6-1

28.3

Herath to Cook, OUT, attempts the sweep, playing across the line and hit on the front pad, Dar gives it - but Cook decides to review. Although you could see middle and leg stump this looked in line and Hawk Eye confirms as much, not much turn but it beat the pad and the impact was level with off stump, the decision stands and England's captain is gone, taking their review with him

AN Cook lbw b Herath 59 (116m 85b 3x4 0x6) SR: 69.41

England 131/2   IJL Trott 41* (49b 2x4)   HMRKB Herath 5.3-0-23-1

41.6

Herath to Trott, OUT, full on the stumps, Trott sweeps and misses and is given out lbw straight away by Billy Bowden, it was too full to sweep really and looked pretty straight. Only things against the call would have been if it was sliding down but I doubt it, caught almost full on the boot

IJL Trott lbw b Herath 76 (122m 87b 5x4 0x6) SR: 87.35

England 218/3   JE Root 50* (43b 2x4)   HMRKB Herath 10-0-46-2

45.3

Malinga to Root, OUT, slower ball on the stumps, 72mph, Root goes to play over the leg side, doesn't get hold of it and finally Sri Lanka hold a catch with Jayawardene clinging on to a simple chance at deep midwicket, bit of a top edge from Root but a fine innings played really well

JE Root c Jayawardene b Malinga 68 (74m 55b 5x4 0x6) SR: 123.63

England 249/4   EJG Morgan 13* (9b 1x4)   SL Malinga 8.3-2-48-1

45.4

Malinga to Morgan, OUT, full on the off stump, played forward, a huge cry for lbw and given out! It was pad first but going across Morgan and was it going on to miss off stump? Bowden thought not. Very full and Morgan couldn't get the bat down on it in time

EJG Morgan lbw b Malinga 13 (17m 10b 1x4 0x6) SR: 130.00

England 249/5   JC Buttler 0* (0b)   SL Malinga 8.4-2-48-2

46.2

Kulasekara to Buttler, OUT, driven at outside off stump, thin edge and taken by Sangakkara a good low catch going down to his left, Buttler walked and a second ball duck is a second failure in this competition. It wasn't right there to drive and Buttler got a little tickle on it trying to force into the covers

JC Buttler c †Sangakkara b Kulasekara 0 (4m 2b 0x4 0x6) SR: 0.00

England 249/6   RS Bopara 0* (2b)   KMDN Kulasekara 9.2-0-39-1

47.5

Eranga to Bresnan, OUT, full and straight and cleans Bresnan up as it tries to swing it down the ground and loses his leg stump, just missed a straight one there Bressy. It seemed to be in the slot to drive, Bresnan tried but made no connection

TT Bresnan b Eranga 4 (6m 7b 0x4 0x6) SR: 57.14

England 254/7   RS Bopara 1* (4b)   RMS Eranga 8.5-0-51-2
