England 103 for 4 (Wyatt 40, Dottin 3-20) beat West Indies 101 (Kyshona Knight 33, Shrubsole 4-21, Brindle 3-0) by six wickets
Scorecard

England's bowlers successfully defused West Indies' explosive batting line-up to set up a six-wicket win that puts the holders through to the Super Six stage. Anya Shrubsole claimed career-best figures before opener Danielle Wyatt hit 40 and victory with 15 overs to spare had the added effect of damaging West Indies' net run rate, which could help decide qualification from Group A.

Only two West Indies batsmen got into double figures - and there were six ducks - as they limped to 101 all out. Katherine Brunt removed Kycia Knight with the second ball of the match before her new-ball partner Shrubsole struck three times. The run-out of West Indies captain Merissa Aguilleira was followed by Brunt having Deandra Dottin caught behind, leaving the innings in tatters at 31 for 6.

Kyshona Knight, batting at No. 4, and Shanel Daley staved off complete disaster with a partnership of 58 but the introduction of Arran Brindle hastened the end of the innings. Brindle took 3 for 0 from two overs, having top-scorer Kyshona Knight stumped for 33, and Shrubsole returned to complete a four-wicket haul, with Daley unbeaten on 30.

In reply, Wyatt and Brindle put on 66 for the first wicket, as England appeared to be cruising into the Super Sixes. Dottin took two in two balls as four wickets fell for 13 runs but Heather Knight struck three boundaries to make sure Charlotte Edwards, England's captain who had been feeling unwell, did not have to bat. The only other flutter for England was caused by Brunt having to leave the field during West Indies' innings with a suspected twisted ankle.

Although West Indies had gone into their final group game with a healthy NRR of +1.040, it fell to +0.276 in defeat and they will have to wait on the result of India's match with Sri Lanka to determine whether they stay in the tournament.

Love seeing all the trolls stay in their caves after England win yet again. Golden. :)

@jmcilhinney... The article did say that Charlotte was feeling ill - re: her batting position, so hopefully she's over it before the next game...

A good win and a dominant performance by England but not exactly clinical. 23 wides?! In a score of 101 that's not going to hurt but on another day that could well be the difference between winning and losing. A bit of a stutter with the bat too, although Edwards didn't bat so things may have been different if the she'd come in at her normal position. I guess that she wanted to give others time in the middle, which didn't exactly go to plan.

watching my first ever women's cricket match.. mmm what wonderful performance by SL girls...excellent batting, bowlling and fielding.. keep it up girls and win more matches to go as much as u can up in the ladder to WC...good disciplined all round performance by SL....its sad to see India going out of the tournament, but surprise is, like in men's matches, its SL women chased out India out of the tournament!!!....hard to understand why its always at the hands of India... anway long way to go SL gals, all the best in S/Six round.

I think this loss will shut Mitali mouth. I m indian and i want india to win every time if not everytime than i dnt want this kind of dull performance from india. What kind of team management they are asking?? Its very difficult to understand we cant find 7-8 players who can score 6-7 runs per over or more! See the fitness of kimini, she is opening n she can't run two. She is jogging while taking run. Are u making full. U r chasing 283 to win and 251 runs need to qualify still u girls are playing 2-3 runs per over! Every one is just blocking n blocking! No effort is made to play agressive. Its called poor captainship n poor team management! Plz its time for chance now! Plz find those girls who can score 6-7 runs per over, who can smash six -four whenever wherever required! Its Time 4 change "Big change" !

Well bowled England. Obviously a pure fluke as Brunt only took 2 wkts and 2 of our mediocre bowlers took the rest of the wickets inc Taylor who is ranked 2nd in the world and came off a 170 score vs SL. May the luck continue

I think the Indian captain is talking too and not performing, she should concentrate on her batting. Look at SL, how much improvement they have made. India should remove Mithali from the captaincy and give the reins to Julan. Please Mithali shut your big mouth.

If the match starts in the morning, bowl first in helpful conditions and win easy. If the match starts in the afternoon bat first and bowl later in helpful conditions and win easy. Surely if the ICC is planning a World tournament, they make sure that the toss is not as crucial as it has been in Group A. Then again, perhaps these sort of changing weather conditions would not have happened if Group A matches had been played at the Wankede. So maaybe India Women getting knocked out is not the fault of the players, or the fault of the toss, or the fault of the weather but the fault of the BCCI.

Its not the problem ind wmn are loosing! But they are not making any kind of efforts! what the team management are doing?? I think sleeping or what! Ok its too much asking but atleast show some effort! I know Sri lanka will not be the world cup winner but the way they played against eng n ind they are real winner. Showing some courage! Gud luck to lanka bt really back luck to india team and indiangmt!

Expect srilankan win here.through to super six as well. great !!!

Well rather than blaming things on India i would like to appreciate the way Sri Lankans have batted.Anyways it is a dead flat track lets see how India respond back because what i see from here is not a bad performance by Indian bowlers but a bad performance by Indian batting in case if India loses this match.

@Dark_Harlequin - Thanks, that detail has been amended.

India going to lost to srilanka. One sided match! Really very very poor performance by indian womens. This is the reason thats why Bcci not taking any interest in indian women cricket. I think Mitali raj is reacting too much. She is not batted when india is batting against w indies. Some very poor decision on the field and off the field. I shld compeletely blame to Mitali.

Good win for England, take a bit of confidence going into the super sixes after the first scare! although FYI, Wyatt wasn't opening in place of Edwards, she normally opens the batting these days. It was Brindle who was bumped up the order.
