Lahore, Nov 19: England captain Nasser Hussain escaped from serious injury when he was hit on his right wrist by a Wasim Akram bouncer.
Hussain underwent precautionary x-rays after he retired hurt on his third ball of the second innings. Tests revealed that he had nothing more than a bruise.
"I hate to leave the crease. I have been struck in the past but have never retired. But this time I just couldn't put my hand in the gloves," Hussain said, adding: "The doctor treated the injury as a soft tissue."
He said he would be seeing the doctor again on Monday. "He is the same who is treating me for my back which is bothering me for the last week or so. I will get a jab in the back on Monday."
Hussain said he was unsure whether he will be playing in the threedayer starting at Bagh-i-Jinnah from Nov 22 but hoped that he will be fit for the second Test.
