ICC World Twenty20 - 4th match, Group C

South Africa v Zimbabwe

South Africa won by 10 wickets (with 44 balls remaining)

Thanks Alex, welcome to the chase folks. Should be a straightforward job for South Africa. Disappointing effort from Zimbabwe with the bat, they're a better side but have struggled in both the games they've played this tournament.

Tony: "6 Boundaries in the entire innings, and a gap of 54 balls from 7.3 to 16.3 between boundaries must also be some sort of record. Awesome bowling from Kallis, Steyn and Morkel to be fair!"

Levy and Amla are the openers, Jarvis to start off. Has a slip

0.1

Jarvis to Levi, no run, beaten, short of a good length outside off, nipped away as Levi tried to cut that, just went past the outside edge

0.2

Jarvis to Levi, 4 leg byes, on the pads this time, good bounce but it clips the pads to go past short fine leg for a boundary, misdirected there, South Africa are away

0.3

Jarvis to Levi, 1 run, shortish on middle, jabbed through square leg into the deep for a single

A few schoolkids in the stands behind the batsman.

0.4

Jarvis to Amla, no run, Amla chased that one, shortish outside off, moved towards it to punch it through the off side, got an under-edge

0.5

Jarvis to Amla, 1 wide, a short ball down the leg side and Amla lets it go, called a wide

0.5

Jarvis to Amla, FOUR, slower one dropped short outside off and Amla cashes in, cracks it hard past extra cover from the crease for a boundary

0.6

Jarvis to Amla, 1 wide, down the leg side once more, tries to clip it fine, misses, called a wide once again

0.6

Jarvis to Amla, FOUR, edged, short and wide and he tries to smash that over point, gets a thick outside edge and it flies over slip to the third-man boundary

Any thoughts of putting South Africa under early pressure would have quickly evaporated, 15 off the over

Simon: "Zimbabwe have a lot of the problems the Kiwis have only magnified. The best bowler they have is porbably Ray Price who sides can play out knowing there isn't much else. They both have very talented but inconsistent young pacemen in Jarvis and Southee and captains who can win you a match when they fire, but who don't fire anywhere near as often as they should. Zimbabwe just seem to have a lot of squad filler as well."

12.4

Matsikenyeri to Amla, 1 run, flighted on middle, pushed down to long-on to end the game, South Africa have thrashed Zimbabwe here

Zimbabwe have been knocked out, the most one-sided game this competition so far. A walloping. Levi's back to form, South Africa's seamers had an excellent time. Zimbabwe are capable of doing better, and they'll want to forget this quickly. We'll get you the presentation details in just a bit.

Taylor: "It's the end of the road, they showed how classy a bowling line-up they are. We are a team that are going to bounce back sharply, we've improved a lot over the last 24 months."

AB: "Very happy with the start. I back our pace bowlers to do well on this kind of deck. Hopefully its the same for the next game. Richard and Hash started really well. We are definitely prepared for whatever the conditions may be. We've improved a lot facing spin in these conditions, so can't wait to take on what's coming our way."

Kallis is Man of the Match: "My job was made easier by the early wickets, I just came on and kept the pressure. There was a little bit of carry in the wicket which surprised us a little bit."

That's all from us, folks. Two games tomorrow: Bangladesh take on New Zealand, and Afghanistan face England. Do join us then. Firdose Moonda's report is getting updated here. Goodbye.
