Scorecard and ball-by-ball details
Afghanistan finished fifth in the World T20 Qualifier with a comfortable five-wicket win against Oman in Dublin. Chasing a modest 128, Afghanistan were in trouble at 7 for 3, but cameos from the middle order carried Afghanistan through with seven balls remaining.
Afghanistan enjoyed early success after choosing to field, dismissing Zeeshan Maqsood in the first over for 6. Oman's hero in the last match, Zeeshan Siddiqui was promoted to No. 3 and formed a 39-run second-wicket stand with Khawar Ali. However, Oman lost regular wickets after that and couldn't produce substantial stands. Khawar was Oman's top-scorer with 21. Afghanistan's bowlers conceded just 60 runs off the last 10 overs as Oman finished their innings at 127 for 9. Apart from Mirwais Ashraf, who conceded 32 in his four overs, the economy rates of all other bowlers were under six.
Rajeshkumar Ranpura kept Oman in the hunt with two wickets in the first three overs of the innings and Munis Ansari had the in-form Nawroz Mangal caught behind in the next over. However, Samiullah Shenwari (40*) and Mohammad Nabi (27) hit back with a 44-ball 49-run stand. Nabi was caught behind in the 11th over, but Najibullah Zadran counter-attacked with a stroke-filled 44, including four fours and two sixes, before he fell in the 19th over. By then it was too late for Oman.
