John Dunn played for Surrey before he was posted to Hong Kong by the army in 1889. He then played for Hong Kong and, in 1892, travelled to Shanghai to play and on the return journey his ship, the P&O liner Bokhara, was swamped and sank. Only 23 of the 148 passengers and crew survived and Dunn was not among them.
