Profile

Born in Lahore, Adeel Raja is an offspinner in the Graeme Swann mould. He finds prodigious turn and has excellent control, but his career hit the buffers after he failed a random drugs test. Raja was banned for two years in 2007 after testing positive for finasteride - a masking agent that can be used more innocently for combating hair loss.

Strengths

A proper spinner, Raja is prepared to give the ball an almighty rip and should be central in Netherlands' plans.

In the seven ODI wins he has been a part of, Raja has 11 wickets at 17.63. In losses he has taken only six wickets at 70.16 .

Raja is a veteran of two World Cups and a Champions Trophy, dating back to his ODI debut against Sri Lanka in 2002. His 4 for 42 helped defeat Namibia in the 2003 tournament but four years later he was taken for 61 in 7.5 wicketless overs against Australia.
