One of the younger members of Canada's current crop, Monali Patel was born in Kenya and got her first taste of cricket there. She made her Canada debut aged just 18 in 2007, bowling just one over and not getting a chance to bat as Yvette Singh and Joanna White sealed an easy eight-wicket win over Argentina. But she has since established herself as an opening bat, and played an important role in Canada's Twenty20 wins over USA in the Women's Americas Championship in 2010.
