The sort of bits-and-pieces cricketer New Zealand have had an abundance of over the years, Nathan McCullum is a handy batsman, handy bowler and handy fieldsman. Will he turn a match on his own? Probably not, but New Zealand have several potential matchwinners in the squad, and it's no bad thing to have a few consistent players to back them up. His most likely role during this tournament is as a second spinner to Vettori, though he will be a useful man to have coming in at No. 8 or 9 as well.
