Johnston is the senior professional in the Ireland team and has managed to hold his body together long enough to earn a second World Cup campaign. Having come over from Australia, where he briefly played alongside Brett Lee and Michael Slater for New South Wales, he knows how to play his cricket tough and his never-say-die spirit has helped Ireland on numerous occasions. Despite losing pace as the years take their toll he can still string together 10 solid overs, while has the ability to give the ball a strong thump in the lower order.
