Zimbabwe batsman Tino Mawoyo has been ruled out of the 2011 World Cup due to an abdominal muscle tear, and Terry Duffin has been named his replacement. Mawoyo played two ODIs for Zimbabwe against Bangladesh in 2006 and was himself a replacement for allrounder Sean Ervine, who opted out of the tournament due to personal reasons.

Duffin, 28, has played two Tests and 23 ODIs for Zimbabwe. In the 50-over format, Duffin has three half-centuries and an average of 23.73. He last played an ODI for Zimbabwe in 2007 and represents Matabeleland Tuskers on the country's domestic circuit. Duffin had a reasonably successful MetBank Pro40 tournament during the domestic season, scoring 188 runs in seven games at 37.60.

Mawoyo is the seventh player to be ruled out of the 2011 World Cup after the squads were announced. Ervine, Nathan Hauritz, Michael Hussey, Praveen Kumar, Eoin Morgan and Sohail Tanvir are the others who've had to drop out.

"Duffin, 28, has played two Tests and 23 ODIs for Bangladesh"...I am guessing typo or a lazy afternoon after lunch?

Unbeliveable decision! Duffin has never looked comfortable when he has played in the past and is a real plodder! What on earth has Hamilton done wrong! If anyone else gets injured does it mean a call up for Piet Rinke?

Is Hamiltons form really that bad at the moment!? God, i feel sorry for the guy. Not even 3rd in line!!? Something fishy here...

I wonder why Sikandar Raza was called into the squad. He seems to be a hard hitting batsman capable of clearing the rope and can bowl. Is he not qualified to play for Zimbabwe.

Sorry Tino your injury has just left many peeps sad,Duffin isn't a good cricketer he doesn't have a 50 in the 40overs game, and that sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!Chamu or Hami could have been a better option.i personally think the selectors need to wake up....No doubt i'm still a Zimbabwe suppporter but Duffin has to prove himself for shooo!

"Duffin, 28, has played two Tests and 23 ODIs for Bangladesh." Really?! Could've sworn he was Zimbabwean. :)

presented with 2 oppotunities now to recall Hamilton but oh well. Charles Kevin Coventry is the best option he is the only option to partner Brendan Taylor.

Sorry TMK but world cup always throws these kind of things but not when you are a replacement as well. although i'll support my guys, mutizwa, hami, chibhabha and vusi are all better than duffin. everyone knows about his very slow scoring rate. so might say it's the hami curse of leaving him out. go zim!!

Although still sad about Masakadza omission, hopefully this puts an end to the Coventry experiment at the top of the order.

Aah Tino, very unfortunate. But Duffin last played in 2007 i think vusi would have been a better pik.
