India v Netherlands

India won by 5 wickets (with 81 balls remaining)

18.1

Yuvraj Singh to Barresi, 1 run, turn straight away, from back of a length, Barresi stays back and works against the spin through midwicket

18.2

Yuvraj Singh to Cooper, 1 run, tossed jup at 79.5 kph on off, driven solidly down to long on for a single

18.3

Yuvraj Singh to Barresi, 1 run, flatter and on the pads, turned away with the angle through square leg for one

18.4

Yuvraj Singh to Cooper, no run, straightens from off stump, defended down the track

18.5

Yuvraj Singh to Cooper, 1 run, this time he lands it on the pitch. Driven with the spin just past short mid off for one

18.6

Yuvraj Singh to Barresi, OUT, Barresi reviews an lbw call. Yuvraj gets one of those innocuous pies to land on off from wide of the crease, and straighten enough to hit middle stump. Umpire Davis did not take long to uphold the appeal. The only bone of contention was whether it hit bat before hitting the pad. Replays show it his the front pad first alright. A 100 ODI wickets for Yuvraj.

W Barresi lbw b Yuvraj Singh 26 (67m 58b 2x4 0x6) SR: 44.82

Netherlands 64/2   Yuvraj Singh 1-0-4-1

20.1

20.2

Yuvraj Singh to ten Doeschate, no run, Yuvraj spears another one without much spin as Tendo reaches out to defend. Bat first this time. Stifled appeal.

20.3

Yuvraj Singh to ten Doeschate, no run, Tendo skips out gingerly, but Yuvraj holds the length well back and forces him to defend in ungainly manner

20.4

Yuvraj Singh to ten Doeschate, 1 run, this one drifts in towards the pads and Tendo works to the leg side for one

20.5

Yuvraj Singh to Cooper, no run, Cooper escapes, Raina's thrown to the wrong end. Short ball outside off, dabbed to the right of Raina at point. Cooper thought there was a single. Tendo knew there wasn't one. Cooper was halfway down when Raina collected. He, however, threw to the bowler's end where Tendo was well in.

20.6

Yuvraj Singh to Cooper, 1 run, tossed up and breaking away, Cooper plays with an angled face through backward point for one

Netherlands 72/2   Yuvraj Singh 2-0-6-1

22.1

Yuvraj Singh to ten Doeschate, no run, Yuvraj again looking for that innocuous lbw, getting one to drift into the line of the stumps and straighten. Defended with bat and pad close together to the off side

22.2

Yuvraj Singh to ten Doeschate, no run, Tendo jumps out of the crease and is halfward down when he misses the dab to the leg side and is hit on the pads. Even Yuvraj doesn't appeal.

22.3

Yuvraj Singh to ten Doeschate, no run, again, a very late steer to the off side as Yuvraj gets one to go away from him

22.4

22.6

24.4

Yuvraj Singh to Cooper, no run, more air, straightens from leg stump and Cooper defends down the track

24.5

Yuvraj Singh to Cooper, no run, looped up on middle and leg, defended again. Yuvraj on a maiden.

24.6

Yuvraj Singh to Cooper, no run, another tough return chance spilled. Again, not even close to easy. Yuvraj tosses up on middle and leg, Cooper slaps it back to his left and very low. Yuvraj gets a hand to it, but can't hold on.

Netherlands 84/2   Yuvraj Singh 4-1-10-1

26.1

Yuvraj Singh to Cooper, no run, pre-meditated sweep from Cooper, he was looking to paddle it from short of a length and well outside off. No luck in getting bat on that.

26.2

Yuvraj Singh to Cooper, no run, length ball on the off stump, defended down the track

26.3

Yuvraj Singh to Cooper, FOUR, lovely improvisation. Cooper decided early that he was going to play the reverse paddle, Yuvraj helped matters by dropping it full and outside off, Cooper slapped it on the bounce and send it wide of short third man. The ball gathered speed as it went. Harbhajan at short third man did not.

26.4

Yuvraj Singh to Cooper, 2 runs, short this time, a little ragged from Yuvraj and Cooper cuts in front of square. Tendulkar does well to run across from deep backward point and keep it to a couple

26.5

Yuvraj Singh to Cooper, 1 run, Cooper gets another single, dabbing into the covers with the spin

26.6

Yuvraj Singh to ten Doeschate, no run, Yuvraj ends the over with a ripper that spits past RTD's forward poke. Even Dhoni could not collect that, it spun a mile and some more.

Netherlands 97/2   Yuvraj Singh 5-1-17-1

28.1

Yuvraj Singh to ten Doeschate, no run, back of a length on off stump and defended into the off side

28.2

Yuvraj Singh to ten Doeschate, OUT, Yuvraj does it again. Best spinner in this team? He's done in Netherlands' best batsman with a bit of old-school left-arm spinner's guile. He's got this to dip on RTD after inviting him out of the crease for the loft down the ground. RTD did not realise he wasn't to the pitch of it, until too late, and decided to go through with the shot. He was looking to go leg side, but the extra spin meant that it went off the lower half of the bat, getting a bit of outside edge in the process. He ended up scooping it higher than he wanted, compromising for distance, and playing to towards long off as the bat turned in his hand. Zaheer at long off makes a tough catch look easy, taking it a foot in front of the ropes.

Netherlands 100/3   Yuvraj Singh 6-1-18-2

34.1

Yuvraj Singh to de Grooth, 1 run, full toss on the stumps, but it dips alarmingly and squeezes onto the pads under the attempted sweep

34.2

Yuvraj Singh to Kervezee, OUT, de Grooth is run out. This innings is a complete shambles now, and the packed stands in Kotla will be concerned they won't get to see much of a chase. There was no single there. Kervezee works Yuvraj towards short midwicket and takes off. Chawla at mid-on runs in, collects with one hand and lets rip a throw at Dhoni. It wasn't the best of throws, but it was such a madly judged run that Dhoni had a year to collect and break the stumps. de Grooth started running really late, he knew it was suicidal.

TN de Grooth run out 5 (14m 11b 0x4 0x6) SR: 45.45

34.3

Yuvraj Singh to Borren, no run, tossed up and straightening from middle, defended in an edgy manner down the track

34.4

Yuvraj Singh to Borren, no run, Borren leans out and gets to the pitch of the ball as he defends to the off side

34.5

Yuvraj Singh to Borren, FOUR, well-hit by Borren, and a rare boundary. He drops his front foot across and whacks a flighted ball, in the air over midwicket. The very definition of against the run of play.

36.6

Netherlands 123/6   Yuvraj Singh 8-1-32-2

41.1

Yuvraj Singh to Kruger, no run, loopy delivery on off stump, defended back as it straightens

41.2

41.3

Yuvraj Singh to Borren, FOUR, Borren's just managed to get his lofted cover drive over the head of the man standing close in. Looped up on off, he jumped out and looked to carve him inside out. Got just enough bat to ensure he picked four

41.4

Yuvraj Singh to Borren, 2 runs, another adventurous paddle from Borren, leans out and dabs backward of square leg for a couple

41.5

Yuvraj Singh to Borren, no run, this one hurries in with the arm, Borren defends off the front foot

41.6

Yuvraj Singh to Borren, FOUR, Borren's taken a liking to Yuvraj. Gets a fullish ball on the leg stump and responds with a whole-hearted swipe across the line. He timed the hit really well and got it away through midwicket.
