ICC Cricket World Cup - 28th match, Group B

Bangladesh v England

Bangladesh won by 2 wickets (with 6 balls remaining)

Evening all, Sahil here. England fans will be quietly confident, Bangladesh fans will be quietly confident. Well, hopefully not too quiet. Tamim, Tamim, Tamim. He really is all that matters. In life. James Anderson has the new ball, Strauss is pointing towards the dressing room, "don't get hit there, Jim" presumably.

0.1

Anderson to Tamim Iqbal, 2 runs, short ball, which is revealing, might not be many in Tamim's half. Slow pitch to do that on. Worked off the arm around the corner towards fine leg

0.2

Anderson to Tamim Iqbal, 1 leg bye, again Anderson is back of a length and trying to tuck Tamim for space, looks like it comes off the pads and bobbles towards Prior

0.3

Anderson to Imrul Kayes, no run, Imrul also likes to have a dash but here he is a picture of resistance, waving Anderson through to the keeper

0.4

Anderson to Imrul Kayes, no run, Anderson finds some early swing and celebrates by appealing as Imrul is struck high on the pad. The umpire indicates it was going over, it was

0.5

Anderson to Imrul Kayes, no run, touch of swing again, that will keep Anderson smiling. Imrul is rooted to the crease a touch and defending with his hands

0.6

Anderson to Imrul Kayes, no run, again Imrul is defeated by swing as the ball bends past his inside edge and crashes into his thigh

Good start from Anderson but no first-over disaster for Bangladesh.

End of over 1 (3 runs) Bangladesh 3/0 (223 runs required from 49 overs, RR: 3.00, RRR: 4.55)
Imrul Kayes    0* (4b)      JM Anderson    1-0-2-0
Tamim Iqbal    2* (2b)

With Stuart Broad out injured it's the wild-eyed Ajmal Shahzad, he's getting plenty of advice from Anderson.

1.1

Shahzad to Tamim Iqbal, no run, starts tidily enough, searching for swing at a full length outside off stump

1.2

Shahzad to Tamim Iqbal, 2 runs, this is close enough for Tamim and he flicks with the around-the-wicket angle through the leg side for a couple

1.3

Shahzad to Tamim Iqbal, 3 runs, flick of the wrists earns Tamim three, would have been four but for an excellent full-length slide along the square-leg boundary from Morgan. It was full around middle and off and Tamim just whipped his wrists through the delivery

1.4

Shahzad to Imrul Kayes, 1 run, Imrul apes Tamim, though without the same panache and works a single towards square leg

1.5

Shahzad to Tamim Iqbal, 1 run, not the right place to bowl really, on the pads and Tamim can help himself to a single

Shahzad is absolutely drenched in sweat, he looks almost as worn out as Shoaib.

1.6

Shahzad to Imrul Kayes, no run, beaten! Much better delivery here, lands just outside off and zips away past a groping outside edge

End of over 2 (7 runs) Bangladesh 10/0 (216 runs required from 48 overs, RR: 5.00, RRR: 4.50)
Imrul Kayes    1* (6b)      A Shahzad    1-0-7-0
Tamim Iqbal    8* (6b)      JM Anderson    1-0-2-0

2.1

Anderson to Tamim Iqbal, no run, good work from Anderson, hammering that back of a length and leaving Tamim with no room to cut

2.2

Anderson to Tamim Iqbal, 1 run, all the best batsmen are good judges of a single and Tamim is one of the best, drops this to mid-off and scoots off

2.3

Anderson to Imrul Kayes, no run, Anderson is holding his length and line outside off stump, Imrul shapes to play before deciding against it

2.4

Anderson to Imrul Kayes, no run, shorter delivery but the line remains impeccable

2.5

Anderson to Imrul Kayes, 1 run, ball carrying through quite nicely off the dewy surface and slides off the edge to third man

2.6

Anderson to Tamim Iqbal, FOUR, oh no, Bopara fluffs a save on the fine leg boundary and turns one into four! It wasn't a great deliver - shoved down the leg side - but Tamim's work didn't deserve four. Bopara just overran it a touch

End of over 3 (6 runs) Bangladesh 16/0 (210 runs required from 47 overs, RR: 5.33, RRR: 4.46)
Tamim Iqbal    13* (9b 1x4)      JM Anderson    2-0-8-0
Imrul Kayes    2* (9b)      A Shahzad    1-0-7-0

3.1

Shahzad to Imrul Kayes, 1 run, another thickish edge earns Imrul a single

3.2

Shahzad to Tamim Iqbal, FOUR, with fine leg wide and the angle from around the wicket this - on the pads - is no place to be bowling. Tamim is delighted and flicks around the corner. he's up and running now!

3.3

Shahzad to Tamim Iqbal, no run, much better from the bowler, outside off stump and blocked. Shahzad looks thoroughly unamused at the moment

3.4

Shahzad to Tamim Iqbal, no run, full again and the line, crucially, is outside off. Tamim thumps a drive towards mid-on

3.5

Shahzad to Tamim Iqbal, 1 run, worked to fine leg with the angle from around the wicket. He looks in good order so far

3.6

Shahzad to Imrul Kayes, no run, false shot! And we haven't had many, just a touch of outswing finding a leading edge

End of over 4 (6 runs) Bangladesh 22/0 (204 runs required from 46 overs, RR: 5.50, RRR: 4.43)
Imrul Kayes    3* (11b)      A Shahzad    2-0-13-0
Tamim Iqbal    18* (13b 2x4)      JM Anderson    2-0-8-0

4.1

Anderson to Tamim Iqbal, 3 runs, three more for Tamim and he barely touched this, full on and around middle and he flicked it beautifully in front of midwicket to send Bresnan on a long chase

4.2

Anderson to Imrul Kayes, no run, left alone outside off stump

4.3

Anderson to Imrul Kayes, no run, banged in short from Anderson, the line was wrong but Imrul couldn't quite swing it away as he wanted

4.4

Anderson to Imrul Kayes, no run, the dew has the England fielders sliding all over the place. It helps Collingwood here save a single at point

4.5

Anderson to Imrul Kayes, 1 run, England are very keen to give no room outside off which means there is plenty of opportunity to work to leg

4.6

Anderson to Tamim Iqbal, FOUR, ah, touch of style, touch of class. Touch short from Anderson and Tamim go up on one-leg and short-hand whipped it through square leg. Shades of a certain Lara there

End of over 5 (8 runs) Bangladesh 30/0 (196 runs required from 45 overs, RR: 6.00, RRR: 4.35)
Tamim Iqbal    25* (15b 3x4)      JM Anderson    3-0-16-0
Imrul Kayes    4* (15b)      A Shahzad    2-0-13-0

England return to the Jonathan Trott of bowling consistency - Tim Bresnan.

5.1

Bresnan to Imrul Kayes, no run, solid start from Bresnan, up and around middle on a length

5.2

Bresnan to Imrul Kayes, FOUR, England taking a hiding now! Imrul Kayes this time landing a picture-perfect straight drive, full face of the blade and it rushes past mid-off

5.3

Bresnan to Imrul Kayes, no run, back of a length here and Imrul pops up on his toes to defend

5.4

Bresnan to Imrul Kayes, 1 run, smartly played here as some extra bounce surprises Imrul, but he rides with it and guides to third man

5.5

Bresnan to Tamim Iqbal, 1 run, fantastic stop from Bopara at short fine leg saves four, diving full length, picking up and throwing as Tamim flicked around the corner

5.6

Bresnan to Imrul Kayes, no run, again it's on the pads but the leg glance finds the infielder

End of over 6 (6 runs) Bangladesh 36/0 (190 runs required from 44 overs, RR: 6.00, RRR: 4.31)
Imrul Kayes    9* (20b 1x4)      TT Bresnan    1-0-6-0
Tamim Iqbal    26* (16b 3x4)      JM Anderson    3-0-16-0

6.1

Anderson to Tamim Iqbal, no run, Anderson finds his ideal delivery, back of a length around middle and off. Tamim defends

6.2

Anderson to Tamim Iqbal, FOUR, what a strike! Anderson's line drifts a touch down the leg side, Tamim is up on one leg again and screaming a pull shot to the boundary

6.3

Anderson to Tamim Iqbal, no run, that forces Anderson to go full and Tamim aims a booming drive to cover but can't time it

6.4

Anderson to Tamim Iqbal, 2 runs, there's the width that England have been desperate to contain, Tamim flashes at the opportunity and it heads towards the point boundary

The ball has become damp and now England are frantically giving it a scrub.

6.5

Anderson to Tamim Iqbal, no run, Anderson is lucky here, full on leg stump but Tamim's flick finds short fine leg

6.6

Anderson to Tamim Iqbal, FOUR, he loves that! Full and wide it was only going to end one way. Feet go nowhere but the bat flows through the line and he holds the poise, or pose, as the ball skims to the boundary. Tamim is flying and the crowd love Bangladesh again

End of over 7 (10 runs) Bangladesh 46/0 (180 runs required from 43 overs, RR: 6.57, RRR: 4.18)
Tamim Iqbal    36* (22b 5x4)      JM Anderson    4-0-26-0
Imrul Kayes    9* (20b 1x4)      TT Bresnan    1-0-6-0

Rightly Strauss has turned to his best bowler, Graeme Swann. This ball is very slippery and Swann pulls up in his run up to give it another scrub.

7.1

Swann to Imrul Kayes, FOUR, slippery ball or what I don't now but this was really floated up, long half-volley outside off stump and Imrul clattered it wide of cover to bring up the 50-stand. That didn't take long!

7.2

Swann to Imrul Kayes, no run, better ball this time, flatter and around middle stump. Imrul works to fine leg

7.3

Swann to Imrul Kayes, no run, zooter/slider/ball that doesn't spin. Imrul leaves alone

7.4

Swann to Imrul Kayes, no run, touch fuller and pushed back to the bowler

7.5

Swann to Imrul Kayes, no run, best ball of the innings here, dragging Imrul forward in defence

7.6

Swann to Imrul Kayes, no run, so after a poor first ball Swann finishes well but he's not at all happy with the conditions. Can't grip the ball, he tells the umpire

End of over 8 (4 runs) Bangladesh 50/0 (176 runs required from 42 overs, RR: 6.25, RRR: 4.19)
Imrul Kayes    13* (26b 2x4)      GP Swann    1-0-4-0
Tamim Iqbal    36* (22b 5x4)      JM Anderson    4-0-26-0

8.1

Bresnan to Tamim Iqbal, no run, huge appeal from England as Tamim aims and misses a squeezed cut shot. Flicked the top of the pad through to Prior and was neither an edge or out lbw

8.2

Bresnan to Tamim Iqbal, 2 runs, venture near the pads and Tamim will happily flick through midwicket

8.3

Bresnan to Tamim Iqbal, no run, big wind up and bat swing from Tamim here as he tries to drill down the ground. Possibly tried to overhit it though and the timing was hideous

8.4

Bresnan to Tamim Iqbal, OUT, silence in Chittagong! Crowd dumb struck as Bresnan strikes! Fullish length but Tamim was hanging back and just played across the ball a touch. It burst through and onto the stumps

Tamim Iqbal b Bresnan 38 (36m 26b 5x4 0x6) SR: 146.15

Junaid Siddique is the new man. At the moment it seems like this match is being played in an empty stadium, all the noise has drained away.

8.5

Bresnan to Junaid Siddique, no run, Bresnan hammers a length and line and Junaid blocks

8.6

Bresnan to Junaid Siddique, 1 run, banged in much shorter and Junaid wheels a pull down to fine leg

End of over 9 (3 runs) Bangladesh 53/1 (173 runs required from 41 overs, RR: 5.88, RRR: 4.21)
Junaid Siddique    1* (2b)      TT Bresnan    2-0-9-1
Imrul Kayes    13* (26b 2x4)      GP Swann    1-0-4-0

9.1

Swann to Junaid Siddique, no run, Swann aims full and it's gently patted back to the bowler. All the bite has gone for the moment

9.2

Swann to Junaid Siddique, FOUR, that will help! Horrid full toss slips out and Junaid could pick his spot, shoving it through midwicket for four

9.3

Swann to Junaid Siddique, 1 run, bit of a misfield now at midwicket. Poor Swann, he is not at all happy

9.4

Swann to Imrul Kayes, no run, flight, touch of spin, good line. Treated with utmost respect

9.5

Swann to Imrul Kayes, no run, Imrul aims a big swish-sweep but fails to connect

9.6

Swann to Imrul Kayes, no run, carefully pushed to cover

Eventful 10 overs and both sides will be happy I suspect. Here's Gnasher...

End of over 10 (5 runs) Bangladesh 58/1 (168 runs required from 40 overs, RR: 5.80, RRR: 4.20)
Imrul Kayes    13* (29b 2x4)      GP Swann    2-0-9-0
Junaid Siddique    6* (5b 1x4)      TT Bresnan    2-0-9-1

Bangladesh ahead of the rate so far but Tamim's wicket as crucial...England take the bowling Powerplay

10.1

Bresnan to Junaid Siddique, FOUR, no slip and that edge has gone straight where one would have been stood as Siddique aimed to play through third man

10.2

Bresnan to Junaid Siddique, no run, short ball and Siddique goes for the pull but doesn't make contact

10.3

Bresnan to Junaid Siddique, no run, goes full at the stumps, met with a full face and driven back down the pitch

Slip now in place. There's a horse somewhere bolting away

10.4

Bresnan to Junaid Siddique, 1 run, wrong line, on leg stump like so much of England's bowling and worked out to deep square

10.5

Bresnan to Imrul Kayes, 2 runs, leg stump again and neatly flicked away by Kayes...Shahzad slides round on his knees to cut off the boundary

10.6

Bresnan to Imrul Kayes, no run, compensates by going full outside off, it's well driven but short cover makes a sharp save

End of over 11 (7 runs) Bangladesh 65/1 (161 runs required from 39 overs, RR: 5.90, RRR: 4.12)
Imrul Kayes    15* (31b 2x4)      TT Bresnan    3-0-16-1
Junaid Siddique    11* (9b 2x4)      GP Swann    2-0-9-0

11.4

11.5

Swann to Imrul Kayes, 1 run, drifting onto leg stump which gives the batsman a chance to work the ball out to deep square

11.6

Swann to Junaid Siddique, no run, on off stump, defended into the covers

End of over 12 (4 runs) Bangladesh 69/1 (157 runs required from 38 overs, RR: 5.75, RRR: 4.13)
Junaid Siddique    12* (11b 2x4)      GP Swann    3-0-13-0
Imrul Kayes    18* (35b 2x4)      TT Bresnan    3-0-16-1

12.1

Bresnan to Imrul Kayes, 1 run, opens the face to guide a wide ball down to third man

Bangladesh aren't under any run-rate pressure thanks to the start from Tamim

12.2

Bresnan to Junaid Siddique, OUT, Is this gone?! Excellent fielding from Anderson who hits direct at the non-striker's end with a swivel and throw. This is mighty close. One angle is more clear than the other and Siddique seems short of the crease. Indeed he's gone. He played the ball into the leg side but was late responding to Kayes' call, while Anderson produced a pin-point throw

Junaid Siddique run out 12 (17m 12b 2x4 0x6) SR: 100.00

England haven't always been good in the field during this tournament but that was superb. Excellent awareness from Anderson. There was only a frame in it at the end.

12.3

Bresnan to Imrul Kayes, no run, beaten outside off, Bresnan pushes one across which moves away a touch more...good line

Raqibul Hasan    0* (1b)      TT Bresnan    4-0-18-1
Imrul Kayes    20* (39b 2x4)      GP Swann    3-0-13-0

Change of bowling. Graeme Swann, who was struggling to grip the ball, is replaced by Shahzad

13.1

Shahzad to Imrul Kayes, no run, and he nearly gets through straight away as Kayes chops a defensive push down in front of the stumps and the ball bobbles near the timber

13.2

Shahzad to Imrul Kayes, no run, full on the stumps with a hint of swing, Kayes almost gets into a tangle as he plays across his pad into midwicket

13.3

Shahzad to Imrul Kayes, no run, full outside off, it's driven hard into the ground without much timing

13.4

Shahzad to Imrul Kayes, 2 wides, wrong line down the leg side and Prior gets an awkward bounce so gives away another extra

Slip comes in for the new batsmen

13.4

Shahzad to Raqibul Hasan, OUT, gone! That's a beauty from Shahzad. You can't play them. Pitched on off, held its line to beat the edge and ripped out off stump. Unplayable.

Raqibul Hasan b Shahzad 0 (6m 2b 0x4 0x6) SR: 0.00

That will be a major confidence-booster for Shahzad and England having significant inroads into this innings now even though Bangladesh's run rate is decent

Shakib Al Hasan in the middle with the weight of a nation on his shoulders. No pressure, then.

13.5

Shahzad to Shakib Al Hasan, no run, on off stump and driven firmly into the covers

Shakib Al Hasan    1* (2b)      A Shahzad    3-0-16-1
Imrul Kayes    20* (42b 2x4)      TT Bresnan    4-0-18-1

14.1

Bresnan to Shakib Al Hasan, no run, good line on off stump, Shakib defends square on the off side

14.2

Bresnan to Shakib Al Hasan, no run, pushed across outside off, doesn't quite bounce as much and gets the toe-end of the bat to point

Changes to round the wicket

14.3

Bresnan to Shakib Al Hasan, 1 run, offers up some width but Shakib's cut takes the bottom of the bat then falls short of Prior, who parries it past slip as he dives

14.4

Bresnan to Imrul Kayes, no run, full and wide, draws a loose drive from Kayes who was nowhere near it

14.5

Bresnan to Imrul Kayes, no run, closer to off stump and that's a better defensive shot square to point

14.6

Bresnan to Imrul Kayes, no run, on middle and off, defended into the leg side

The umpires decide it's time for a drink. England have fought back well and Bangladesh are desperate for a partnership

End of over 15 (1 run) Bangladesh 75/3 (151 runs required from 35 overs, RR: 5.00, RRR: 4.31)
Imrul Kayes    20* (45b 2x4)      TT Bresnan    5-0-19-1

Ajmal Shahzad will continue after drinks

15.1

Shahzad to Shakib Al Hasan, no run, on off stump, Shakib waits on the back foot and drives firmly into the covers

15.2

Shahzad to Shakib Al Hasan, 1 run, touch straight this time which allows Shakib to turn it down to long leg

15.3

Shahzad to Imrul Kayes, 5 wides, that's pretty awful all round from England...fired down the leg side then Prior lets it through his legs. It did bounce low, but no excuse for the keeper

15.3

Shahzad to Imrul Kayes, no run, back on middle stump, worked out to midwicket

15.4

Shahzad to Imrul Kayes, no run, on middle and off, defended to the leg side

15.5

Shahzad to Imrul Kayes, no run, this is better from Shahzad, stays on off stump and it's pushed back to the bowler

15.6

Shahzad to Imrul Kayes, 1 wide, oh dear, another one down the leg side...he's just forcing it a little

15.6

Shahzad to Imrul Kayes, 1 run, on the stumps, worked backward of square on the leg side

There is so much on offer on this site you may have missed our Innovation Series looking at some of the things that have shaped the modern game.

Imrul Kayes    21* (49b 2x4)      A Shahzad    4-0-24-1
Shakib Al Hasan    3* (7b)      TT Bresnan    5-0-19-1

16.2

Bopara to Imrul Kayes, 1 run, full on the pads, worked along the ground to deep square

16.3

Bopara to Shakib Al Hasan, 1 wide, down the leg side, neat take this time but another extra England can't afford

16.3

Bopara to Shakib Al Hasan, 1 run, still too straight and it allows another single into the leg side

The last time Bopara bowled for England he took 4 for 38 against Bangladesh at Edgbaston

16.4

Bopara to Imrul Kayes, 1 wide, this isn't very clever from England as another one pushed down the leg side

16.4

Bopara to Imrul Kayes, 1 run, flicked in the air through square...about two of the last dozen deliveries have been on off stump

16.5

Bopara to Shakib Al Hasan, no run, that's better, full on off stump and it's driven to mid-off

16.6

Bopara to Shakib Al Hasan, no run, cuts and misses outside off, it skidded through a touch more which beat the shot

End of over 17 (5 runs) Bangladesh 88/3 (138 runs required from 33 overs, RR: 5.17, RRR: 4.18)
Shakib Al Hasan    4* (10b)      RS Bopara    1-0-5-0

17.3

Shahzad to Shakib Al Hasan, no run, ooh, was that half a chance? Indeed it was. Punched back by Shakib but Shahzad couldn't get his right hand down in his follow through

17.4

Shahzad to Shakib Al Hasan, 1 run, uses the angle created from round the wicket to work it through midwicket

17.5

Shahzad to Imrul Kayes, no run, well bowled! A cracking yorker which zeros in on Kayes' feet but somehow misses the stumps

17.6

Shahzad to Imrul Kayes, 2 runs, full outside off, driven in the air but it goes wide of backward point down to third man

End of over 18 (4 runs) Bangladesh 92/3 (134 runs required from 32 overs, RR: 5.11, RRR: 4.18)
Imrul Kayes    25* (56b 2x4)      A Shahzad    5-0-27-1
Shakib Al Hasan    5* (12b)      RS Bopara    1-0-5-0

18.1

Bopara to Shakib Al Hasan, no run, full on off stump and gets driven to mid-off

18.2

Bopara to Shakib Al Hasan, 1 run, shorter from Bopara and it's worked down to fine leg...plenty of time to play short stuff on this pitch

18.3

Bopara to Imrul Kayes, FOUR, wrong line again, this is poor from Bopara - he's only a medium pacer - and it gets clipped away to fine leg

18.4

Bopara to Imrul Kayes, no run, an appeal for lbw but that pitched well outside leg so there's no point reviewing it

18.5

Bopara to Imrul Kayes, no run, full on the stumps, punched firmly back to Bopara in his follow through

18.6

Bopara to Imrul Kayes, 1 run, neatly played as he opens the face to guide down to third man...sensible batting is all Bangladesh need

End of over 19 (6 runs) Bangladesh 98/3 (128 runs required from 31 overs, RR: 5.15, RRR: 4.12)
Imrul Kayes    30* (60b 3x4)      RS Bopara    2-0-11-0
Shakib Al Hasan    6* (14b)      A Shahzad    5-0-27-1

19.1

Shahzad to Imrul Kayes, no run, another excellent yorker, jamming into the batsman's toes and he does well to keep it out

Shahzad to Imrul Kayes, 1 run, nicely turned away off the stumps through midwicket...they think of two but after the earlier run out decide against it

19.3

Shahzad to Shakib Al Hasan, 1 run, full on the stumps and the angle works in the left-hander's favour as he gets another single into midwicket...Shahzad can't get straight from round the wicket

100 up for Bangladesh...another mini milestone

19.4

Shahzad to Imrul Kayes, 1 wide, that's horrid, pushed way down the leg side...there has been some tripe served up by England

19.4

Shahzad to Imrul Kayes, FOUR, lovely shot, just leant on it and sends it racing straight down the ground for a welcome boundary

19.5

Shahzad to Imrul Kayes, no run, comes out as a low full toss but Kayes can only drive it to short cover

19.6

Shahzad to Imrul Kayes, no run, on middle and off, defended with a straight bat

After the wobble these two are putting the chase back on course. To see if they can continue it's over to Sahil

End of over 20 (7 runs) Bangladesh 105/3 (121 runs required from 30 overs, RR: 5.25, RRR: 4.03)

Shakib Al Hasan    7* (15b)      RS Bopara    2-0-11-0

Thanks Gnasher. Things brewing rather nicely here. Breaking news, I think. Possibly. Michael Schumacher has set the fastest time on the fourth day of practice ahead of the Formula One season-opener in Australia in a fortnight. Follow the news and action all year on ESPNF1. Enjoy.

20.1

Anderson to Shakib Al Hasan, no run, anyway, back in a real sport Anderson has replaced Bopara and starts well, around off stump. Pushed to cover

20.2

Anderson to Shakib Al Hasan, no run, full again, no reverse swing at the moment. Dewy ball and all. Bunted out to cover

20.3

Anderson to Shakib Al Hasan, FOUR, have all of those. Stand and delivery. Huge pressure on Shakib but he looks calm. This was in his range and he just slapped his arms through the to send it pinging to the rope

20.4

Anderson to Shakib Al Hasan, 1 run, slower ball is turned down to fine leg. Very good little stand this

Anderson is frantically trying to dry the ball again, it's really been a problem for England.

20.5

Anderson to Imrul Kayes, 1 run, another picture-perfect straight drive from Imrul, he's nailed a few of those today. Took a sprawling save from mid-off

20.6

Anderson to Shakib Al Hasan, no run, Shakib on the straight drive this time, and again it took some smart fielding from mid-off to intercept

End of over 21 (6 runs) Bangladesh 111/3 (115 runs required from 29 overs, RR: 5.28, RRR: 3.96)
Shakib Al Hasan    12* (20b 1x4)      JM Anderson    5-0-32-0
Imrul Kayes    36* (66b 4x4)      A Shahzad    6-0-34-1

This will please the England boys, change in ball. It will stay dry for about an over. The balls are carried out in a very smart, red velvet-lined black box, which is rather delightful. Swann is back with the dry ball.

21.1

Swann to Imrul Kayes, no run, starts well, touch of flight and Imrul solidly forward in defence. No hurry for Bangladesh here if they play sensibly this game is for the taking

21.2

Swann to Imrul Kayes, no run, ooh, dry ball finds big spin. Real ripper past the outside edge. Kept very low too

21.3

Swann to Imrul Kayes, 1 run, Swann tosses this up, he really fancies this after that last delivery, slides off the edge towards third man

21.4

Swann to Shakib Al Hasan, no run, big follow through from Swann after Shakib pops this back to him in defence

21.5

Swann to Shakib Al Hasan, no run, Shakib very careful against Swann, prodding to the leg side

21.6

Swann to Shakib Al Hasan, 1 wide, huge appeal from England but all they get is a wide from the umpire. It was down the leg side, Shakib misses a leg-side flick. Prior and Swann are convinced but Strauss is having none of it, doesn't fancy a review

21.6

Swann to Shakib Al Hasan, no run, Swann is furious still, but lands a good delivery that finds a slight leading edge. On replay Swann is right to be annoyed that it was given a wide, because it hit the leg, but it wasn't an edge

End of over 22 (2 runs) Bangladesh 113/3 (113 runs required from 28 overs, RR: 5.13, RRR: 4.03)
Shakib Al Hasan    12* (23b 1x4)      GP Swann    4-0-15-0

Here's England's specialist No. 8 and second spinner, Paul Collingwood.

22.1

Collingwood to Imrul Kayes, 2 runs, this is the seam-up variety of Collingwood's bowling and a touch wide too, driven square of the wicket out towards the point boundary

22.2

Collingwood to Imrul Kayes, no run, more of a cutter this time and driven to cover. Hint of a mix-up between the batsmen but they corrected in time

22.3

Collingwood to Imrul Kayes, no run, touch of spin here and Imrul defends carefully

22.4

Collingwood to Imrul Kayes, no run, misfield at cover threatens to give away a single but the fielder recovered quickly

22.5

Collingwood to Imrul Kayes, 2 runs, Anderson let this through him, diving at short cover and then long-off is slow to respond which allows a swiftly-taken couple

22.6

Collingwood to Imrul Kayes, no run, decent start from Collingwood but England need a breakthrough

End of over 23 (4 runs) Bangladesh 117/3 (109 runs required from 27 overs, RR: 5.08, RRR: 4.03)
Imrul Kayes    41* (75b 4x4)      PD Collingwood    1-0-4-0
Shakib Al Hasan    12* (23b 1x4)      GP Swann    4-0-15-0

23.1

Swann to Shakib Al Hasan, 1 run, Swann is the man for England, he looks most likely of finding a wicket. Touch short here though and Shakib cuts firmly

23.2

Swann to Imrul Kayes, no run, good delivery is resolutely kept out

23.3

Swann to Imrul Kayes, no run, slip in place for Swann who is tossing up invitingly but Imrul is solid in defence

23.4

Swann to Imrul Kayes, 1 run, quicker ball fired through, just a touch too short and was cut sharply but Strauss fielded well at point

23.5

Swann to Shakib Al Hasan, no run, good tumbling fielding from Bopara at mid-on prevents Shakib from turning the strike back over

23.6

Swann to Shakib Al Hasan, 1 run, nicely done from Shakib, couple of steps down the ground and pushed to long-off

End of over 24 (3 runs) Bangladesh 120/3 (106 runs required from 26 overs, RR: 5.00, RRR: 4.07)
Shakib Al Hasan    14* (26b 1x4)      GP Swann    5-0-18-0
Imrul Kayes    42* (78b 4x4)      PD Collingwood    1-0-4-0

24.1

Collingwood to Shakib Al Hasan, no run, Collingwood tosses this up a touch and is driven to cover

24.2

Collingwood to Shakib Al Hasan, 1 run, this time Shakib straightens his drive to milk a single down to long-off

24.3

Collingwood to Imrul Kayes, no run, pushed to point as Collingwood tosses this up again

24.4

Collingwood to Imrul Kayes, no run, spin and bounce for Collingwood! Imrul prodded suspiciously at it

24.5

Collingwood to Imrul Kayes, no run, good bowling here, full and straight. Driven back to him

24.6

Collingwood to Imrul Kayes, 2 runs, excellent batting, that's all they need to do. Careful drive threaded through the infield towards deep point, smart running earns two

End of over 25 (3 runs) Bangladesh 123/3 (103 runs required from 25 overs, RR: 4.92, RRR: 4.12)
Imrul Kayes    44* (82b 4x4)      PD Collingwood    2-0-7-0
Shakib Al Hasan    15* (28b 1x4)      GP Swann    5-0-18-0

50 stand up, could be a matchwinning one.

25.1

Swann to Shakib Al Hasan, no run, Shakib plays around his front pad and a touch of spin defeats the fiddle

25.2

Swann to Shakib Al Hasan, no run, booming sweep aimed but Swann is bowling excellently and Shakib can't get much of it

25.3

Swann to Shakib Al Hasan, 1 run, better shot this time, worked carefully around the corner

25.4

Swann to Imrul Kayes, no run, touch too short to cause Imrul problems as this is driven back at the bowler

25.5

Swann to Imrul Kayes, 1 run, single taken this time, Imrul punching a backfoot drive straight of extra cover

Swann is desperate to get the ball changed again, he says the seam is wet. Umpire Harper is having none of it. Swann's really delaying things now and the crowd is on his back.

25.6

Swann to Shakib Al Hasan, 2 runs, again this is dragged down, Swann exclaims as he delivers, he needs to get a grip (chortle). Cut hard to deep cover and Swann hoofs the turf in disgust

End of over 26 (4 runs) Bangladesh 127/3 (99 runs required from 24 overs, RR: 4.88, RRR: 4.12)
Shakib Al Hasan    18* (32b 1x4)      GP Swann    6-0-22-0
Imrul Kayes    45* (84b 4x4)      PD Collingwood    2-0-7-0

26.1

Collingwood to Imrul Kayes, no run, Collingwood flights this cutter a touch and is driven to cover

26.2

Collingwood to Imrul Kayes, no run, prodded to cover again

26.3

Collingwood to Imrul Kayes, no run, good work from Collingwood, pinning Imrul to the crease

26.4

Collingwood to Imrul Kayes, 3 runs, touch too short and too wide as well, cut fine and it scoots, all along the damp outfield, towards the third man rope. England are looking very glum at the moment

26.5

Collingwood to Shakib Al Hasan, 1 run, diving stop, flinging himself to his left at cover keeps this to one. But singles are all Bangladesh need here

26.6

Collingwood to Imrul Kayes, no run, quiet and tidy over ticks by but England need a moment of inspiration to lift themselves here. One wicket and pressure will suddenly switch but for now Bangladesh are coasting

End of over 27 (4 runs) Bangladesh 131/3 (95 runs required from 23 overs, RR: 4.85, RRR: 4.13)
Imrul Kayes    48* (89b 4x4)      PD Collingwood    3-0-11-0
Shakib Al Hasan    19* (33b 1x4)      GP Swann    6-0-22-0

With Swann still steaming Strauss has hauled him out of the attack and Jonathan Trott will have a go. Scrap that. James Anderson has been recalled. Attack leader needs to conjure up some magic.

27.1

Anderson to Shakib Al Hasan, 1 run, that's certainly not it, long-hop sat up but Shakib's pull shot went straight to fine leg

Sort of situation England could really do with Stuart Broad.

27.2

Anderson to Imrul Kayes, no run, flash and a miss outside off stump! Not a great delivery but it scurried under the edge

27.3

Anderson to Imrul Kayes, 2 runs, fifty for Imrul and an absolutely crucial one. Gets there by steering this out to third man for a couple

27.4

Anderson to Imrul Kayes, no run, flash a miss again outside off! Just a hint of reverse as well bending it past the edge

27.5

Anderson to Imrul Kayes, 1 run, won't swing from that length. Banged in too short and speared down the leg side. Imrul worked it with the angle for a single towards fine leg

27.6

Anderson to Shakib Al Hasan, no run, Shakib wanted a single here that didn't exist as he prodded this to midwicket. Another wicketless over ticks by and Bangladesh are edging closer. Certain favourites from here but England games don't end easily

End of over 28 (4 runs) Bangladesh 135/3 (91 runs required from 22 overs, RR: 4.82, RRR: 4.13)

Imrul Kayes    51* (93b 4x4)      PD Collingwood    3-0-11-0

28.1

Collingwood to Imrul Kayes, 1 run, dropped towards point where the fielder hares in and fluffs the pick up. Might have been tight otherwise

28.2

Collingwood to Shakib Al Hasan, 1 run, have to respect Shakib's guts here, all the pressure of the nation on him and he's working the ball around smartly, picking off singles to guide this chase

28.3

Collingwood to Imrul Kayes, 1 run, Imrul follows in the mould by dinking to midwicket and heading off for one

28.4

Collingwood to Shakib Al Hasan, no run, touch too close for Shakib to try and force through the off side and he can't time it

28.5

Collingwood to Shakib Al Hasan, no run, grunt from Collingwood as he fires this in, skids onto Shakib who can't squeeze a cut away

28.6

Collingwood to Shakib Al Hasan, 1 run, cry of catch from the fielders but it went into a big gap at cover

End of over 29 (4 runs) Bangladesh 139/3 (87 runs required from 21 overs, RR: 4.79, RRR: 4.14)
Shakib Al Hasan    22* (39b 1x4)      PD Collingwood    4-0-15-0
Imrul Kayes    53* (95b 4x4)      JM Anderson    6-0-36-0

Anderson's spell is a single over and Bopara is back.

29.1

Bopara to Shakib Al Hasan, no run, play and miss outside off, this really did keep low. Shakib swung well over the ball

29.2

Bopara to Shakib Al Hasan, 1 run, another false shot, inside edge this time squirts down to fine leg

29.3

Bopara to Imrul Kayes, 1 run, wow, very delicate from Imrul, opening the face at the last moment to steer down to third man

29.4

Bopara to Shakib Al Hasan, 1 run, Shakib manages to squeeze a cut shot out to cover

29.5

Bopara to Imrul Kayes, FOUR, lovely shot, floaty half-volley but Imrul leant into it and creamed a drive through cover to bring up his 1000th ODI run

29.6

Bopara to Imrul Kayes, 1 wide, blimey! Not sure what happened here but Bopara ended up landing this near his toe and it it looped up gently and wide outside off stump. Horrid

29.6

Bopara to Imrul Kayes, 2 leg byes, shoved down the leg side a touch and it runs off the pads towards fine leg

Drinks are on, the crowd are singing, Bangladesh almost pulling off a fabulous win under pressure here. Gnasher to tell you more

End of over 30 (10 runs) Bangladesh 149/3 (77 runs required from 20 overs, RR: 4.96, RRR: 3.85)

Shakib Al Hasan    24* (42b 1x4)      PD Collingwood    4-0-15-0

Thanks Sahil. Bangladesh on course and doing it easily at the moment. Less than four-an-over needed. England are ragged, frustrated and arguing with each other (and the umpires). Wet ball or not they have been poor. Imrul Kayes is playing an immense innings. They have taken huge sheets over the outfield during the break to take some of the few off. Won't last for long.

30.1

Collingwood to Shakib Al Hasan, 1 run, round the wicket, worked off leg stump down to long leg

Each single getting huge cheers now, and an extra one for the 150

30.2

Collingwood to Imrul Kayes, 1 run, goes back in his crease and works it out to deep midwicket

30.3

Collingwood to Shakib Al Hasan, no run, driven square to point

Just keep your head, Bangladesh, and the game is yours

30.4

Collingwood to Shakib Al Hasan, 2 runs, lovely little dab sweep from Shakib, sends it very fine but long leg can get around

30.5

Collingwood to Shakib Al Hasan, 1 run, one hand comes off the bat as he drives but there's a single to midwicket

30.6

Collingwood to Imrul Kayes, 1 run, OUT, What's happened here?! Kayes gifted his wicket. They've gone upstairs for the run out but he looks well short. Oh dear, that's not what Bangladesh needed. Shahzad sent in a rocket throw from deep square, but there was no need to even chance the second.

Imrul Kayes run out 60 (151m 100b 5x4 0x6) SR: 60.00

An opening for England, can they prey on Bangladesh nerves? Superb innings from Kayes but now the onus is on Shakib to see this chase to the end.

Still batting available for Bangladesh. Rahim is a very calm, correct player and the required rate is under four an over. Bresnan is back

31.1

Bresnan to Shakib Al Hasan, no run, wide outside off, cut away to backward point and nearly another mix-up in the running as point makes a diving stop

31.2

Bresnan to Shakib Al Hasan, no run, round the wicket and defended into the off side

31.3

Bresnan to Shakib Al Hasan, 1 run, on off stump, pushes towards mid-on who is fairly deep and this time there's a safe quick single

Slip in place for Rahim

31.4

Bresnan to Mushfiqur Rahim, no run, full outside off, defended into the covers

31.5

Bresnan to Mushfiqur Rahim, no run, ooh, well bowled, hint of reverse swing which is a good effort and Rahim does well to dig it out

31.6

Bresnan to Mushfiqur Rahim, no run, back of a length outside off, driven square on the off side

Collingwood to Shakib Al Hasan, no run, cutter from round the wicket, Shakib dabs it towards the leg side

32.2

Collingwood to Shakib Al Hasan, 1 run, touch short and gives Shakib time to work it out to deep square

Plenty of fielding changes for Rahim on strike

32.3

Collingwood to Mushfiqur Rahim, no run, worked off middle to midwicket

32.4

Collingwood to Mushfiqur Rahim, no run, tight on the stumps and Rahim can only defend

32.5

Collingwood to Mushfiqur Rahim, no run, big appeal for lbw and Strauss calls for review. There are two noises, but no bat. Looks to be heading down the leg side and indeed it is so Rahim survives

32.6

Collingwood to Mushfiqur Rahim, 1 run, full outside off and it's sweetly driven out to deep cover

Bresnan to Mushfiqur Rahim, 1 wide, pushed down the leg side and that's another to England's wide tally, but a good take from Prior

33.1

Bresnan to Mushfiqur Rahim, no run, on off stump, defended to mid-on

Ball change after this over. This one has just started moving, but the next one will be dry for a few overs

33.2

Bresnan to Mushfiqur Rahim, no run, very full outside off, driven hard but straight to cover

33.3

Bresnan to Mushfiqur Rahim, no run, good line, back of a length and defended down the pitch

33.4

Bresnan to Mushfiqur Rahim, no run, bang on off stump from Bresnan, Rahim defends from the crease

33.5

Bresnan to Mushfiqur Rahim, no run, a little fuller so Rahim drives off the front foot but Bresnan gets down in his follow through to stop it

33.6

Bresnan to Mushfiqur Rahim, no run, offers up some width but gets away with it as Rahim picks out cover...a good over from Bresnan

So, 34 overs gone and it's ball change time. Collingwood will continue

34.1

Collingwood to Shakib Al Hasan, no run, full on off stump, driven to backward point

34.2

Collingwood to Shakib Al Hasan, 1 run, touch too short, gives Shakib time to go on the back foot and drive out to the cover sweeper

34.3

Collingwood to Mushfiqur Rahim, no run, floated up outside, goes for the drive but doesn't time or place it and picks out cover

34.4

Collingwood to Mushfiqur Rahim, no run, full at the stumps, that one was actually nicely timed but Collingwood stuck out a foot to stop it...could have been nasty

34.5

Collingwood to Mushfiqur Rahim, no run, outside off and left alone...another dot to Rahim

34.6

Collingwood to Mushfiqur Rahim, no run, well bowled, squares up Rahim and takes a leading edge into the off side

Another tight over. The required rate is still fine, but pressure is building

Graeme Swann is going to get a chance with a drier ball. He's a moody man today, but needs to get his team a wicket now. Slip in place

35.1

Swann to Shakib Al Hasan, no run, starts with an arm ball, angles into Shakib who defends to the off side

35.2

Swann to Shakib Al Hasan, no run, waits for this outside off and chops to backward point

Bangladesh have a batting Powerplay available

35.3

Swann to Shakib Al Hasan, 1 run, just a touch short and it's pushed out to deep cover

Slip in place plus five in the ring

35.4

Swann to Mushfiqur Rahim, 1 run, turn for Swann but it was too short so Rahim to rock back and place it towards backward point

35.5

Swann to Shakib Al Hasan, no run, strangled shout from Prior but there was a big inside edge on that

35.6

Swann to Shakib Al Hasan, OUT, gone! There's the breakthrough, pressure tells and the captain goes. Shakib tries to sweep from well outside off and gets a bottom edge into off stump

Shakib Al Hasan b Swann 32 (108m 58b 1x4 0x6) SR: 55.17

The scoring has dried up and now two new batsmen are in the middle. It's like the South Africa match all over again. Shakib looked distraught as he made his way off.

Mahmudullah is the new man, he can certain bat but this is huge pressure. Change of bowling as Ajmal Shahzad comes back

36.1

Shahzad to Mushfiqur Rahim, FOUR, a welcome boundary, full outside off and Rahim drives beautifully between cover and mid-off...Rahim will like the extra pace

36.2

Shahzad to Mushfiqur Rahim, OUT, gone! Maybe he won't. Shahzad strikes with another beauty. Like the ball to get Raqibul this one just straightens outside off to find the edge and Prior takes a fine low catch diving to his right

Mushfiqur Rahim c †Prior b Shahzad 6 (24m 20b 1x4 0x6) SR: 30.00

Another good bowling change from Strauss. I was just saying to Sahil that Collingwood should have continued, so that's why I don't captain England - well, one of many reasons. England have the momentum now.

Naeem Islam can bat, although this is tricky now

36.3

Shahzad to Naeem Islam, no run, full on off stump with a hint of shape, defended watchfully into the covers

36.4

Shahzad to Naeem Islam, no run, dragged short and wide, but Anderson makes a diving save at cover to support his fellow fast bowler

Big meeting now between Strauss, Bresnan and Prior. Not sure what they can say now? Start leg, hit off?

Bresnan to Mahmudullah, FOUR, Mahmudullah has done it! Bangladesh have done it! What an a partnership! Brilliant victory is sealed by Mahmudullah punching a drive through the covers. The Bangladesh players come streaming onto the field, Mahmudullah stands arms aloft and the World Cup party is back on!

Bangladesh win by two wickets Take your eyes off England at your peril. They've dished up another World Cup classic but it's Bangladesh who are celebrating. Incredible result under the most intense pressure, fantastic scenes in Chittagong! At one stage they were 169 for 8, all but out of their own tournament before Shafiul suddenly turned the game on its head by swatting boundaries off Swann in the 42nd over and the belief came flowing back. All of this after being steamrolled for 58 the game before. Shakib is in tears, that's how much was at stake.

Even the groundstaff are doing a lap of honour, might be quite the party in Chittagong tonight. Fair to say England were poor this evening, again. 23 wides tells its own story but in the end it was Shafiul's blazing belief alongside Mahmudullah's calmness that took Bangladesh over the line.

Andrew Miller, who lest we forget is the father of Bangladesh cricket (according to some), will have hastily rewritten bulletin ready soon and when he does it will be well worth reading. Elsewhere there is a gallery that has the best pictures of the day. Our YouTube channel will soon have interviews and what-not so keep your eye on that.

Imrul Kayes is named man of the match. Held the top order together with a half-century before almost losing the match with the run out. His catch to dismiss Eoin Morgan, though, might just have proved the difference.

Group B is all complex nest of calculations and this result has blown it open again. Fantastic game again, been a pleasure and from me, Sahil Dutta, and Andrews McGlashan and Miller, that will be all.

End of over 49 (6 runs) Bangladesh 227/8 (RR: 4.63)
Mahmudullah    21* (42b 2x4)      TT Bresnan    10-1-35-1
Shafiul Islam    24* (24b 4x4 1x6)      JM Anderson    9-0-54-0
