Owen Morgan, a Swansea-born allrounder making only his fourth Championship appearance, became the first Glamorgan nightwatchman to make a century when he helped them beat Worcestershire at New Road in 2016. The achievement was a close-run thing: he reached the landmark with the game's winning boundary.

That innings would prove to be something of a false dawn. He added another half-century against Essex later that summer, but failed to pass 50 across all formats over the next three summers, failing to nail down a first-team place. A pre-season ton against Gloucestershire hinted that 2019 might be his year, but instead he remained limited to back-up status, playing four Championship games and five T20s once Glamorgan's group-stage exit was effectively confirmed.

Morgan, a left-arm spinner and dogged batsman, has played with much success for Pontarddulais CC in the South Wales Premier League and for various Glamorgan age-group teams. He made his first-class debut in April 2014 for Cardiff MCCU against Gloucestershire at Bristol, besides playing for Glamorgan against Worcestershire in a pre-season friendly. He began his playing career with Llangennech CC and has played regularly for Glamorgan 2nd XI and Wales Minor Counties since 2012.
