ICC Champions Trophy - 6th match, Qualifying Group

Sri Lanka v West Indies

Sri Lanka won by 9 wickets (with 220 balls remaining)

0.4

Vaas to Gayle, OUT, Vaas strikes early. Gayle is drawn into a fatal push outside offstump and Kumar Sangakkara swooped low to his left to pick up the catch. Gayle tarried briefly to get the confirmation from the umpires that it did carry cleanly before walking off. It landed just short of a driveable length around the off stump and bent away a bit.

CH Gayle c †Sangakkara b Vaas 0 (4m 5b 0x4 0x6) SR: 0.00

West Indies 1/1   S Chanderpaul 0* (0b)   WPUJC Vaas 0.4-0-1-1

Vaas to Sarwan, OUT, Got him! Vaas threatened to do this off the last two balls of the previous over but gets his man this time. He shifted his line towards the middle and that did the trick. It landed on a length and bent back in and Sarwan was caught at his crease. Feet went no where and now they will take him to the hutch.

RR Sarwan lbw b Vaas 0 (9m 3b 0x4 0x6) SR: 0.00

Malinga to Chanderpaul, OUT, And now Malinga strikes. After a wayward first over he produces a peach to remove Chanderpaul. A length-delivery around the off stump draws Chanderpaul towards the ball but it left him at the last minute and took a bit of outside edge enroute to Sangakkara. West Indies are reeling here. They won the toss, but so far its all Sri Lanka.

S Chanderpaul c †Sangakkara b Malinga 8 (20m 9b 2x4 0x6) SR: 88.88

West Indies 13/3   BC Lara 0* (6b)   SL Malinga 1.1-0-11-1

14.5

Maharoof to Lara, OUT, Lara is out. After negating two close shouts Asad Rauf uphelds this one. It landed on a length on the middle and straightened. Lara shaped up to cut and is cramped. Tries desperately to bring his bat in front of his pad but it thuds into his front pad. Would have hit the top of the middle. West Indies are bleeding here.

BC Lara lbw b Maharoof 13 (56m 35b 2x4 0x6) SR: 37.14

West Indies 51/4   WW Hinds 17* (44b 2x4)   MF Maharoof 1.5-0-6-1

16.2

Maharoof to Bravo, OUT, and another wicket falls, Bravo overbalanced while trying to play the flick and the ball hit him plumb in front on the back leg. That ball pitched on a good length and Bravo was far too early on the shot

DJ Bravo lbw b Maharoof 0 (8m 3b 0x4 0x6) SR: 0.00

West Indies 55/5   WW Hinds 21* (50b 3x4)   MF Maharoof 2.2-0-6-2

Maharoof to Samuels, OUT, West Indian innings is in shambles here as Samuels falls. His feet went back, his bat moved in front, away from his body, and Maharoof extracts a inside edge that disturbs the furniture.

MN Samuels b Maharoof 1 (16m 11b 0x4 0x6) SR: 9.09

West Indies 58/6   WW Hinds 22* (63b 3x4)   MF Maharoof 4.1-1-7-3

20.3

Maharoof to Smith, OUT, That Smith riddle is answered. He perishes driving. Not a shot on this sluggish track. Quite a poor shot selection. Just popped up a simple catch to mid-on.

DR Smith c Muralitharan b Maharoof 0 (2m 2b 0x4 0x6) SR: 0.00

West Indies 58/7   WW Hinds 22* (63b 3x4)   MF Maharoof 4.3-1-7-4

24.5

Maharoof to Baugh, OUT, After that slow leg cutter, Maharoof gets one dart back in off the seam and catches Baugh in front. This is his first five-wicket haul in ODIs. 5 for 9! What a day for him.

CS Baugh lbw b Maharoof 1 (15m 14b 0x4 0x6) SR: 7.14

West Indies 64/8   WW Hinds 27* (75b 3x4)   MF Maharoof 6.5-2-9-5

26.5

Maharoof to Hinds, OUT, and Maharoof has his sixth wicket. Hinds was trying to protect Edwards and so when he saw a low full toos coming his way he tried to hit it over the infield, but the ball hit the splice of the bat and lobbed towards cover where Jayasuriya took a low catch diving forward

WW Hinds c Jayasuriya b Maharoof 28 (106m 86b 3x4 0x6) SR: 32.55

West Indies 67/9   FH Edwards 0* (3b)   MF Maharoof 7.5-2-11-6

Malinga to Edwards, OUT, and that's that, the inswinging yorker finished the job. It was full and fast and Edwards had no defence to it, the ball crashes into the stumps and West Indies are all out

FH Edwards b Malinga 4 (28m 14b 0x4 0x6) SR: 28.57

West Indies 80/10   CD Collymore 8* (12b 1x4)   SL Malinga 5.4-0-26-2
