ICC Champions Trophy, 7th Match: India v England at Jaipur, Oct 15, 2006
ICC Champions Trophy - 7th match, Group A
India won by 4 wickets (with 123 balls remaining)
15 October 2006 - day/night match (50-over match)

Welcome to Cricinfo's live coverage of the main stage of the Champions Trophy. We're done and dusted with the qualifying stage - Sri Lanka and West Indies sailed through - and the focus shifts to Jaipur where England take on India in today's day-night fixture, the first match of the main tournament. I'm George Binoy and, with Sriram Veera, I'll take you through the action as it unfolds at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium.

England were drubbed 5-1 when they toured India earlier this year but a lot has changed since then. They got hammered 0-5 by Sri Lanka at home but came back to draw the one-day series against Pakistan after being 0-2 down. India's hot streak ended after the victory at home against England. They lost 1-4 in the West Indies and their batsmen came a cropper in the tri-series in Kuala Lumpur.

The pitch looks flat and full of runs. The capatin who wins the toss should want to bat first unless he's wary of the dew factor while bowling second.

Toss: Rahul Dravid won the toss and India will bowl first. Flintoff said that England would have batted anyway so he's pretty happy.

Team news: Dravid's decision to bowl may have been because India are playing two spinners in Harbhajan Singh and Ramesh Powar and he wants them to have a dry ball to bowl with. India are also playing three seamers - Munaf Patel, Irfan Pathan and Ajit Agarkar while Mohammad Kaif, Dinesh Mongia and RP Singh sit out

Ian Bell has been slotted to open with Andrew Strauss for England. We'll have to wait and see if that materialises. Flintoff will bat at No 3.

Bell is indeed opening for England with Strauss. Irfan Pathan has the new ball, bowling from over the wicket to Strauss. Two slips in place. Here we go ...
