ICC Champions Trophy, 2nd Semi Final: South Africa v West Indies at Jaipur, Nov 2, 2006
ICC Champions Trophy - 2nd semi final
West Indies won by 6 wickets (with 36 balls remaining)
Played at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur (neutral venue)
2 November 2006 - day/night match (50-over match)

2.29pm Here come the players ... let's get ready to rumble. Bradshaw to Smith ...

2.20pm The pitch looks to be good to bat on (64% clay for those agronomists among you) and the surface is rock hard and bereft of grass. Although it is cracked, the experts reckon that won't help the bowlers too much.

Only one side has batted through their 50 overs here in this tournament so far, and to date the side batting second has won four of the five matches. Bangladesh were the only side to win batting first, and that was against a very poor Zimbabwe side.

2.05pm Good afternoon and welcome to our coverage of the second semi-final between South Africa and West Indies from Jaipur.

Graeme Smith won the toss and had little hesitation in batting. "I guess the decision boiled down to the wicket and the dew factor," he said, "and we wanted to have first go and get runs on the board."

Both sides have made two changes. South Africa have ditched Dippenaar and Langeveldt and brought in Bosman and Peterson, while West Indies bring in Bradshaw and Smith for Collymore and Edwards.

0.1

Bradshaw to Smith, 1 wide, Bradshaw off to a poor start with a ball which starts wide and gets wider

0.1

Bradshaw to Smith, no run, much the same ball but it starts on a better line and Smith watches it go by

0.2

Bradshaw to Smith, no run, good line, Smith blocks on the back foot

0.3

Bradshaw to Smith, no run, more leg-side and Smith stumbles - and misses - attempting to flick it off his pads

0.4

Bradshaw to Smith, no run, pitched right up and driven to short extra cover

0.5

Bradshaw to Smith, no run, Smith shapes to flick to leg but again misses and it smacks him on the pads. No appeal, possibly a small snick

0.6

Bradshaw to Smith, no run, outside of stump and left. A good end to a good over once the first-ball wide was out of the way

Sadly, another poor crowd for this game. Once again, the organisers have some serious questions to answer over how they arrived at ticket prices that rendered matches inaccessible to so many.

End of over 1 (1 run) South Africa 1/0 (RR: 1.00)

    • GC Smith 0 (6b)
    • LE Bosman 0 (0b)
    • IDR Bradshaw 1-0-1-0
1.1

Taylor to Bosman, 1 run, a bit too short and not that fast, seamed back in and flicked neatly to long leg

1.2

Taylor to Smith, no run, he's loose! That was almost 90mph and speared in at the leg stump, and Smith could only flick to short midwicket

1.3

Taylor to Smith, 1 wide, again leg side, Smith moved slightly out the way and it rocketed through at waist height to Baugh

1.3

Taylor to Smith, no run, straight and Smith could only block

1.4

Taylor to Smith, 1 run, soft hands took the pace off the ball and Smith steered it into the gap between mid on and midwicket

1.5

Taylor to Bosman, no run, Bosman right in line to a straight one

1.6

Taylor to Bosman, no run, Bosman cut in half by one that jagged back and missed his off stump by a couple of inches. He appeared to be leaving it and only brought his bat down once the ball was past him

End of over 2 (3 runs) South Africa 4/0 (RR: 2.00)

    • LE Bosman 1 (3b)
    • GC Smith 1 (9b)
    • JE Taylor 1-0-3-0
    • IDR Bradshaw 1-0-1-0
2.1

Bradshaw to Smith, 2 runs, neatly turned into the gap on the leg side

2.2

Bradshaw to Smith, no run, Smith circumspectly forward and steers to point

2.3

Bradshaw to Smith, no run, a touch more aggression in the shot but driven to mid off

2.4

Bradshaw to Smith, no run, Smith takes a big step to meet the ball but can only pat it to mid on

2.5

Bradshaw to Smith, FOUR, another big stride from Smith, hit on the rise between cover and extra cover and the ball just beats the fielders' hot pursuit

2.6

Bradshaw to Smith, no run, nice stop by Chanderpaul at short midwicket

The pitch looks to be behaving itself and South Africa will be aiming for 240+

End of over 3 (6 runs) South Africa 10/0 (RR: 3.33)

    • GC Smith 7 (15b 1x4)
    • LE Bosman 1 (3b)
    • IDR Bradshaw 2-0-7-0
    • JE Taylor 1-0-3-0
3.1

Taylor to Bosman, no run, outside off stump, little footwork and a wild swish from Bosman. That one topped 90mph

3.2

Taylor to Bosman, 1 run, Bosman turned a bit square, he played that with little conviction and it squirted backward of point. His technique looks a bit suspect

3.3

Taylor to Smith, 1 run, pushed into the covers for a tip-and-run single

3.4

Taylor to Bosman, no run, that one took off and Bosman half-played, half-left as it shot through to the keeper

3.5

Taylor to Bosman, FOUR, overpitched and nicely turned off his leg through midwicket

3.6

Taylor to Bosman, no run, short and Bosman ducks as it passes harmlessly over him

The feeling is here that Bosman might struggle with anything outside his off stump as his footwork is, so far, limited

End of over 4 (6 runs) South Africa 16/0 (RR: 4.00)

    • LE Bosman 6 (8b 1x4)
    • GC Smith 8 (16b 1x4)
    • JE Taylor 2-0-9-0
    • IDR Bradshaw 2-0-7-0
4.1

Bradshaw to Smith, no run, lovely delivery, beats Smith outside his off stump and leaves him groping at air

4.2

Bradshaw to Smith, 2 runs, a bad ball follows a good one, overpitched and flicked into the leg side

Baugh comes up to the stumps

4.3

Bradshaw to Smith, FOUR, again Bradshaw overpitches and strays down the leg - it's a Smith strength in that area and he cracks it to the right of midwicket

4.4

Bradshaw to Smith, FOUR, a better line but again too full and the end result is the same. That shot was 90% timing and 10% power

Lara is forced to move fine leg squarer and reinforce the leg side

4.5

Bradshaw to Smith, no run, Bradshaw is not going to get near leg stump again in this over!

4.6

Bradshaw to Smith, 1 run, outside off and Smith steers it to third man. A very productive over for South Africa

End of over 5 (11 runs) South Africa 27/0 (RR: 5.40)

    • GC Smith 19 (22b 3x4)
    • LE Bosman 6 (8b 1x4)
    • IDR Bradshaw 3-0-18-0
    • JE Taylor 2-0-9-0
5.1

Taylor to Smith, OUT, what a beauty. An inswinger right through Smith, clipping his pads on the way through to his off stump. He was caught in his crease there

GC Smith b Taylor 19 (24m 23b 3x4 0x6) SR: 82.60

5.2

Taylor to Kallis, 1 run, the fastest ball of the day - 91.7mph - to greet Kallis and he jabs down in time and runs it through third slip - all along the ground for a single

5.3

Taylor to Bosman, no run, wild swing from Bosman to one wide of off stump

Lara brings in another slip, and after the wild heave from Bosman, that's a good move

5.4

Taylor to Bosman, no run, another weak shot to a ball leaving him outside off stump

5.5

Taylor to Bosman, no run, beaten all ends up outside off stump. Again his foot movement was limited ... he move sback and across but that's about it

5.6

Taylor to Bosman, 1 run, pushed into the covers, but he plays the ball well away from his body

End of over 6 (2 runs) South Africa 29/1 (RR: 4.83)

    • LE Bosman 7 (12b 1x4)
    • JH Kallis 1 (1b)
    • JE Taylor 3-0-11-1
    • IDR Bradshaw 3-0-18-0
6.1

Bradshaw to Bosman, 1 run, plopped into the leg side, Bosman spotted mid on was a bit deep and called for the single ... Kallis slow to respond, although he did in the end

6.2

Bradshaw to Kallis, 1 wide, wide and swung across the right hander

6.2

Bradshaw to Kallis, no run, better line and Kallis calmly pats it back to mid off

6.3

Bradshaw to Kallis, no run, left alone and close to being another wide

6.4

Bradshaw to Kallis, no run, big, bold step forward and solidly blocked

6.5

Bradshaw to Kallis, no run, fuller length and Kallis gets everything behind it

6.6

Bradshaw to Kallis, no run, another good line and Kallis again plays the waiting game

End of over 7 (2 runs) South Africa 31/1 (RR: 4.42)

    • JH Kallis 1 (6b)
    • LE Bosman 8 (13b 1x4)
    • IDR Bradshaw 4-0-20-0
    • JE Taylor 3-0-11-1
7.1

Taylor to Bosman, no run, Bosman able to leave it

7.2

Taylor to Bosman, 1 run, Taylor strays down the leg and Bosman moves across to turn to long leg

7.3

Taylor to Kallis, FOUR, half volley on leg stump, exquisitely flicked through midwicket, no power but perfect timing and he didn't even bother to start running. That was four all the way

7.4

Taylor to Kallis, no run, good response from Taylor

7.5

Taylor to Kallis, no run, bat and pad jammed together, an appeal came from behind the stumps and Taylor followed belatedly. His tardiness probably influenced the decision as replays show that the ball hit the pad first and was going on to smack leg stump

7.6

Taylor to Kallis, no run, a tight delivery to end a mixed over

End of over 8 (5 runs) South Africa 36/1 (RR: 4.50)

    • JH Kallis 5 (10b 1x4)
    • LE Bosman 9 (15b 1x4)
    • JE Taylor 4-0-16-1
    • IDR Bradshaw 4-0-20-0
8.1

Bradshaw to Bosman, 1 no ball, Bradshaw finds a better line. He's been wayward so far

8.1

Bradshaw to Bosman, no run, a bit shorter and Bosman too cramped to do anything with it

8.2

Bradshaw to Bosman, no run, that gave Bosman the width to play a shot but he failed to time it at all and his attempted cut trickled into the covers

8.3

Bradshaw to Bosman, no run, half forward and he played and missed

8.4

Bradshaw to Bosman, no run, again Bosman was glued to the crease and was well beaten outside the off stump. That died on Baugh as he had to dive to take it low down

8.5

Bradshaw to Bosman, 1 run, angled down to third man. West Indies will be happy to let Bosman keep the strike

8.6

Bradshaw to Kallis, no run, Kallis looked to make room but Bradshaw cramped him

End of over 9 (2 runs) South Africa 38/1 (RR: 4.22)

    • JH Kallis 5 (11b 1x4)
    • LE Bosman 10 (21b 1x4)
    • IDR Bradshaw 5-0-22-0
    • JE Taylor 4-0-16-1
9.1

Taylor to Bosman, no run, "That's out" we all shriek. Bosman caught in the crease playing across the line and it hit him right in front. Simon Taufel disagrees

Replays show that was hitting leg stump. It was one of those that just looks out at the time. It's not being smart after the event ... honest!

9.2

Taylor to Bosman, no run, Taylor replies with a bouncer

9.3

Taylor to Bosman, no run, another bouncer from Taylor who is clearly riled by Taufel's decision

9.4

Taylor to Bosman, no run, that cut Bosman to ribbons. He looks leaden footed and out of his depth against this

9.5

Taylor to Bosman, no run, Taylor cuts it back in and Bosman jabs down in time

9.6

Taylor to Bosman, no run, wide and left alone. West Indies will be happy to keep Bosman in as he doesn't look capable of scoring quickly and his technique is frankly flawed. But, to his credit, he's still battling

And now for the first time today, fresh from his appearance on Sky News, it's Andrew Miller

Thanks Martin, the second powerplay has been taken

End of over 10 (maiden) South Africa 38/1 (RR: 3.80)

    • LE Bosman 10 (27b 1x4)
    • JH Kallis 5 (11b 1x4)
    • JE Taylor 5-1-16-1
    • IDR Bradshaw 5-0-22-0
10.1

Bradshaw to Kallis, no run, flogged off the back foot, but not timed and picked up in the covers

10.2

Bradshaw to Kallis, no run, good delivery, extra bounce on a good length and Kallis is surprised

10.3

Bradshaw to Kallis, 2 runs, steps inside the line and whips through the leg-side. Good use of the crease

10.4

Bradshaw to Kallis, FOUR, stand and deliver stuff! Width and clobbered, over the infield and down to the point boundary. Cracking shot, and Bradshaw continues to toil

10.5

Bradshaw to Kallis, no run, better from Bradshaw, tighter to the stumps, and pushed back down the pitch

10.6

Bradshaw to Kallis, no run, handsome drive, lovely high elbow and all the trimmings. But mid-off fields. Kallis is looking in ominous touch today

Already Kallis has lapped Bosman, who is struggling to beat the field

End of over 11 (6 runs) South Africa 44/1 (RR: 4.00)

    • JH Kallis 11 (17b 2x4)
    • LE Bosman 10 (27b 1x4)
    • IDR Bradshaw 6-0-28-0
    • JE Taylor 5-1-16-1
11.1

Taylor to Bosman, FOUR, but having said that, beat the field he does! Good stride onto the front foot, and caressed through the gap

11.2

Taylor to Bosman, no run

11.3

Taylor to Bosman, 1 run, strays onto leg stump, and whipped behind square for one. Bosman is looking more confident at last

11.4

Taylor to Kallis, no run, good length on off stump, attractive-looking drive from Kallis, but easily fielded in the covers

11.5

Taylor to Kallis, no run, rocks onto the back foot this time, and fielded again in the covers. He's middling everything, but can't pick the gaps as yet

11.6

Taylor to Kallis, no run, more of the same. This one really should have been put away - short and wide. But perhaps Kallis tried to be too classical with his back-foot drive. He should have wellied it!

Now here comes the first bowling change of the day. Bradshaw steps down, and into the attack comes Dwayne "Slower Ball" Bravo

End of over 12 (5 runs) South Africa 49/1 (RR: 4.08)

    • JH Kallis 11 (20b 2x4)
    • LE Bosman 15 (30b 2x4)
    • JE Taylor 6-1-21-1
    • IDR Bradshaw 6-0-28-0
12.1

Bravo to Bosman, FOUR, biff! That's the way to greet a new bowler! Too full first-up, and hammered over the infield and away to midwicket. Well done him

12.2

Bravo to Bosman, no run, on the pads, and can't whip it away

12.3

Bravo to Bosman, no run, similar delivery, similar result

12.4

Bravo to Bosman, no run, fuller length - much better length - and Bosman drops his wrists off the back foot and guides to gully

12.5

Bravo to Bosman, FOUR, lovely strike, really dancing at the crease for that delivery. Got his legs out of the way to a full-length leg-stump delivery, and well timed through the covers. Second boundary of the over!

12.6

Bravo to Bosman, no run, and a dot to finish

Strangely, Bosman has never scored a hundred in a fifty-over match of any description, though he does have one domestic Twenty20 ton to his name

Now, here's Dwayne Smith

End of over 13 (8 runs) South Africa 57/1 (RR: 4.38)

    • LE Bosman 23 (36b 4x4)
    • JH Kallis 11 (20b 2x4)
    • DJ Bravo 1-0-8-0
    • JE Taylor 6-1-21-1
13.1

Smith to Kallis, no run, good length to start, no great pace

13.2

Smith to Kallis, no run, interesting shuffle at the crease, and meets the ball well outside off stump

13.3

Smith to Kallis, FOUR, well, well! That was just tonked straight back over his head. Absolutely no standing on ceremony in that shot!

13.4

Smith to Kallis, no run, driven again, but not timed. Kallis is bristling with aggression today

13.5

Smith to Kallis, no run, beaten - a bit of a yelp from the keeper but no alarms

13.6

Smith to Kallis, no run, full length, and driven out to mid-on

Solid stuff from South Africa. They've been lucky with a couple of lbw shouts, but there have been some sumptuous shots from these two batsmen

End of over 14 (4 runs) South Africa 61/1 (RR: 4.35)

    • JH Kallis 15 (26b 3x4)
    • LE Bosman 23 (36b 4x4)
    • DR Smith 1-0-4-0
    • DJ Bravo 1-0-8-0
14.1

Bravo to Bosman, 1 wide, leg-side and rightly called by the umpire

14.1

Bravo to Bosman, no run, cross-batted smear. The cameraman panned out dramatically, thinking the ball was sailing into the stands, but it just dribbled out to the covers

14.2

Bravo to Bosman, 1 run, fuller length, on the back foot again and steering to gully

14.3

Bravo to Kallis, no run, good length and defended

14.4

Bravo to Kallis, no run, text-book defensive shot. Looking to come forward, late adjustment, bat and pad right together. Beautiful stuff

14.5

Bravo to Kallis, no run, aggressive intent this time, but again, he can't beat the field. Picked up in the covers

14.6

Bravo to Kallis, no run, full-blooded flog of a cover-drive, but straight to the fielder AGAIN! It's lucky Kallis is known for his sang-froid, or else he might be getting frustrated here

And that's drinks. Out to the middle comes the most ridiculously top-heavy advertorial of a drinks cart. No doubting who the sponsors of this tournament are.

End of over 15 (2 runs) South Africa 63/1 (RR: 4.20)

    • JH Kallis 15 (30b 3x4)
    • LE Bosman 24 (38b 4x4)
    • DJ Bravo 2-0-10-0
    • DR Smith 1-0-4-0
15.1

Smith to Bosman, 1 run, dabbed behind square on the off-side, too much width

15.2

Smith to Kallis, no run, lovely caressed drive from Kallis, but the old man Lara leaps dramatically to his right to intercept. He's fully aware of Kallis's inability to beat the field at the moment

15.3

Smith to Kallis, no run, bit of a lazy swat this time from Kallis. Front elbow not as high as usual

15.4

Smith to Kallis, no run

15.5

Smith to Kallis, 1 run, too much width again, and Kallis accepts the offering with a dab to third man

15.6

Smith to Bosman, no run, turns a leg-side delivery out to midwicket

End of over 16 (2 runs) South Africa 65/1 (RR: 4.06)

    • LE Bosman 25 (40b 4x4)
    • JH Kallis 16 (34b 3x4)
    • DR Smith 2-0-6-0
    • DJ Bravo 2-0-10-0
16.1

Bravo to Kallis, no run, it's getting a bit frustrating out there for Kallis. Four fielders on the ring in the covers, plus a man at short cover. And he can't beat any of them

16.2

Bravo to Kallis, no run, fuller and wider, but the same result as his attempted cut skews to point

16.3

Bravo to Kallis, no run, lovely delivery, full and tight to the stumps, Kallis drives at thin air and Carlton Baugh fields with a juggle. Kallis shakes his head in frustration

16.4

Bravo to Kallis, OUT, and there it is! And that is a brilliant, brilliant wicket for West Indies. They've earned that during the past few overs with some good lines from the bowlers and alert fielding in the covers. Kallis loses his composure, has a wipe across the line to a good-length ball, and Ramnaresh Sarwan clings onto a steepling top-edge at third man

JH Kallis c Sarwan b Bravo 16 (50m 38b 3x4 0x6) SR: 42.10

16.5

Bravo to Bosman, no run, Herschelle Gibbs is the new batsman, but he's at the non-striker's end

16.6

Bravo to Bosman, 1 wide, down the leg-side

16.6

Bravo to Bosman, no run, better length, pushed onto the back foot. End of a big over for West Indies

Two slips in place for Smith now. The pressure is on South Africa

End of over 17 (1 run) South Africa 66/2 (RR: 3.88)

    • LE Bosman 25 (42b 4x4)
    • HH Gibbs 0 (0b)
    • DJ Bravo 3-0-11-1
    • DR Smith 2-0-6-0
17.1

Smith to Gibbs, no run, full-length on off stump. Pushed into the covers

17.2

Smith to Gibbs, no run, more tight lines, and another push into the covers. Will Gibbs keep his cool better than Kallis managed?

17.3

Smith to Gibbs, no run, driven down to mid-off this time

17.4

Smith to Gibbs, no run, out to the covers again. Lovely composure from the bowler

17.5

Smith to Gibbs, no run, straighter this time, and turned to midwicket. But still not off the mark

17.6

Smith to Gibbs, no run, excellent over. And the pressure is turned up another notch

End of over 18 (maiden) South Africa 66/2 (RR: 3.66)

    • HH Gibbs 0 (6b)
    • LE Bosman 25 (42b 4x4)
    • DR Smith 3-1-6-0
    • DJ Bravo 3-0-11-1
18.1

Bravo to Bosman, no run, full-length outswinger, extra pace, and that's a careless swing-and-a-miss from Bosman. Not what his team needs

18.2

Bravo to Bosman, 1 wide, bouncer, perhaps a bit of a harsh call from the umpire

18.2

Bravo to Bosman, FOUR, that's a poor delivery. I think it was meant to be the slower ball, but it was misdirected and helped round the corner to backward square-leg

Bosman battles on

18.3

Bravo to Bosman, no run, better lines from Bravo. Watchfully negotiated

18.4

Bravo to Bosman, 1 run, fuller length and Bosman rocks onto leg stump and drops his wrists to guide the ball to third man. Ungainly but reasonably effective

18.5

Bravo to Gibbs, FOUR, finally, Gibbs beats the field to get off the mark. It was a poor ball that deserved the treatment - short and wide, and clobbered through the gap in the covers

18.6

Bravo to Gibbs, no run, and a dot ball to finish a good over for South Africa. Bravo's not got his slower ball going yet in this innings

Ninety-two dot balls so far in this innings, which tells a story of sorts. I think

End of over 19 (10 runs) South Africa 76/2 (RR: 4.00)

    • HH Gibbs 4 (8b 1x4)
    • LE Bosman 30 (46b 5x4)

    • DR Smith 3-1-6-0
19.1

Smith to Bosman, no run, ninety-three now. Pushed out to point

19.2

Smith to Bosman, no run, ninety-four. Smith has done well since he entered the attack. Making his lack of pace into a virtue

19.3

Smith to Bosman, no run, ninety-five ... you get the picture. Bosman negotiates another ball

19.4

Smith to Bosman, 1 wide, misdirected, and pushed down the leg-side again

19.4

Smith to Bosman, 1 leg bye, on the leg-side again, and wafted round the corner with a shovel-pull shot

19.5

Smith to Gibbs, 1 run, pushed into the covers and a scampered single. Might have been tight if the cover fielder hadn't fumbled

19.6

Smith to Bosman, FOUR, that's a poor finish. Leg-side full-toss and it's given the treatment. Bosman is doing a good job for his team

And that's the end of the Powerplays, and also the end of me. Here's Martin Williamson again

20.1

Bravo to Gibbs, 1 run, placed into space on the off side

20.2

Bravo to Bosman, 1 run, Bosman up his toes and drops it a few feet into the off side. Gibbs calls him through for a snappy single

20.3

Bravo to Gibbs, 2 runs, inside edge past the off stump, the ball races down to fine leg where Taylor makes a sprawling stop and his throw clatters into the stumps for good measure

20.4

Bravo to Gibbs, no run, Gibbs gets everything behind that

20.5

Bravo to Gibbs, 1 run, wide and a rasping drive through extra cover to the man in the deep

20.6

Bravo to Bosman, 1 run, Bosman does well to run that down to third man. It was closer to him than he might have liked but he controlled the shot admirably

21.2

Gayle to Bosman, 1 run, again he waited and punched that to deep mid on

21.3

Gayle to Gibbs, no run, Gibbs shaped to turn that to leg and it appeared to come off the back of the bat!

21.4

Gayle to Gibbs, no run, Gayle on the spot, Gibbs defends

21.5

Gayle to Gibbs, no run, Gibbs tries a straight drive but Gayle scampers across and stops the ball with his foot

21.6

Gayle to Gibbs, FOUR, too short and Gibbs has time to rock back and smash that through the covers. Four all the way and Gayle grimaces in annoyance

Double spin as Samuels comes on

22.2

Samuels to Bosman, no run, pushed through and Bosman blocks

22.3

Samuels to Bosman, OUT, the bowling change works! Bosman tried to flick the ball into the leg side, caught a leading edge and it gently looped to Gayle at extra cover. Another much-needed breakthrough as Bosman had overcome his poor start and was beginning to cut loose

40.2

Bradshaw to de Villiers, 2 runs, de Villiers again finds the space. Bradshaw has struggled all day and is doing so again

40.3

Bradshaw to de Villiers, OUT, de Villiers, cramped as Bradshaw fires one at his feet, squirts it into the leg side and Lara at midwicket scores a direct hit with one-and-a-half stumps to aim at. The third umpire has to work hard. It takes several replays before he makes his call. From one angle he appears in, from another out. Andrew Miller screams out ... and Daryl Harper agrees!

Bravo to Gibbs, 5 wides, how odd. Bravo tried a slower/fuller/doosra or something like that and it flew down the leg side, beyond everyone and trundled to the ropes

49.1

Bravo to Gibbs, 1 run, sanity returns with a better ball and a single

49.2

Bravo to Peterson, 3 runs, another slower ball, this time in the right spot, and Peterson spoons it over the infield on the off

49.3

Bravo to Gibbs, no run, pitched up inn the blockhole, driven back with interest and Bravo athletically stoops and makes a nonchalant one-handed stop

49.4

Bravo to Gibbs, OUT, yet another slower ball which Gibbs looks to send towards the city centre but he catches it high on the bat and Lara is under the skier half-a-dozen yards in at long on

HH Gibbs c Lara b Bravo 77 (124m 90b 4x4 1x6) SR: 85.55

49.5

Bravo to Peterson, 1 run, plopped no more than a yard down the pitch and batsman beats bowler in the race that ensues

49.6

Bravo to Nel, 1 bye, the slowest ball of the day - almost Gayle pace - and Nel, who completed his heave before the ball was halfway through its flight, missed it. Peterson, who almost overtook it, ran the bye and Nel scrambled home at the other end

And now an interval message from Andrew Miller, a man never knowingly undersold ...

We're now off to the High Street to pour more money down the throats of St those loathsome exploitative caffeinated-froth merchants, only because there's still no milk in the kitchen. I'm not proud of myself for it. Back shortly after I have feasted on a Big Mac with extra fries ...
