Bermuda 56 and 87 for 1 (Foggo 45*, Outerbridge 42*) trail United Arab Emirates 356 for 6 dec. (Arshad 126, Gilbert 3-85) by 193 runs

Arshad Ali's fourth first-class century cemented United Arab Emirate's dominant position on the second day in Hamilton, his 126 taking allowing captain Khurram Khan to declare at 356 for 6. Bermuda lost Fiqre Crockwell for just 12 in their second innings but Chris Foggo - topscorer of their first innings - and Steven Outerbridge combined in an unbeaten 87-run stand as the hosts made a fist of their batting effort at the second attempt, going to stumps at 107 for 1.

UAE had started the day with the score at 192 for 2, with Arshad on 75 overnight, but he and Saqib Ali added only a further 28 to their partnership before Saqib fell to Joshua Gilbert's offspin. Indeed, it was spin that accounted for every wicket to fall in UAE's innings, Gilbert and his fellow offspinner Rodney Trott picking up three scalps each.

Arshad went to his hundred in the course of a 67-run stand with wicketkeeper Swapnil Patil before he was eventually prised out by Gilbert in the 92nd over of the innings. Patil and Amjad Javed fell to Trott in quick succession less than 10 overs later, but some enterprising hitting from Amjad Ali took the score past 350 before the declaration came.

Crockwell and Foggo made a cautious start to the second innings before Qasim Zubair got the breakthrough in the 11th over. But Outerbridge and Foggo then dug in, playing out the rest of the day cautiously to give Bermuda a slim hope of saving this game.
