Alan Hodgson, a pwerful seam bowler, was a member of Northamptonshire's 1976 Gillette Cup winning team, winning his county cap in the same year. After retiring in 1979, he fulfilled various coaching roles at the club. Born in Moorside in Durham in 1951, he was a long-time flatmate of Colin Milburn and a primary source for the play about Milburn's Life, When the Eye Has Gone, tragically dying only a few days before it was first performed.
