ICL 20s World Series - Final

ICL India XI v ICL World XI

ICL India XI won by 10 runs

Right, we're just about ready for the start. Big crowd in. We have to be jealous of Hyderabad, really. Looks like they've hosted countless games already. Not fair....Alright, I'm over it! Time for action. The World XI walk out, escorted by little boys. Ibrahim Khaleel and G Vignesh walk out. Khaleel has the strike. van der wath has the ball. ON ON!

6.50: We're about 10 minutes from the start. If you want to grab a snack or a cup of tea, now's the time.

Toss: R Satish has won the toss and the ICL India XI will bat first.

Teams: Both teams are unchanged for this match. They've retained their winning combination and that's no surprise. The pitch has plenty of runs in it and Chris Cairns, the World XI captain, expects it to be a 150-plus surface. Slam, bang, thank you ma'am.

ICL India XI: Ibrahim Khaleel (wk), G Vignesh, Abhishek Jhunjhunwala, Tejinder Pal Singh, Abbas Ali, Stuart Binny, R Satish (capt), J Syed Mohammed, T Kumaran, Abu Nechim Ahmed, Ali Murtaza

ICL World XI: Matthew Elliott, Lou Vincent (wk), Ian Harvey, Damien Martyn, Marvan Atapattu, Chris Cairns (capt), Russell Arnold, Andrew Hall, Upul Chandana, Johan van der Wath, Daryll Tuffey

Today's final is officially the end of the second season of the ICL. The Hyderabad Heroes were the winners of the Edelweiss 20s challenge. Steve Rixon was the successful coach in that edition and today he has the chance to wrap up a golden double, if his ICL Indians go on to win.

It has been a complete turnaround for the Indians after getting walloped in the first game against the World XI in their opening match. They returned to rout their opponents in their second league match, part of a three-match winning streak which paved their way into the finals.

The World XI batting looks powerful on paper, batting all the way till No.10. The Indians will have to try and pound as many runs as possible and give their left-arm spinners a good total to bowl at. World will be hungry for revenge. Should be a cracker.

The Indian dugout will be satisfied with this effort. Not more than that. They lost their way after Khaleel and Vignesh departed. Perhaps a score of 150 -plus would have been ideal. It looks a par score. Do join us shortly for the chase.
