England tour of India, Only T20I: India v England at Kolkata, Oct 29, 2011
England won by 6 wickets (with 8 balls remaining)
29 October 2011 - night match (20-over match)

Swann's giving his team a talk before they head to the middle. I'd love to listen in to a Swann pep talk. It'd be hilarious. "Can't have any more death threats coming my way ...."

Steven Finn has the new ball. Robin Uthappa has the bat. He's wearing a shirt that says 'Robbie' on it. Hilarious. Let's go ...

6.20 pm: "Can't look beyond India for this game. They have a monstrous batting lineup, so even if England takes 5 wickets, Yusuf Pathan will be at the crease. Plus the English batsmen just can't play spin," says Anant.

Vish: "Vinay Kumar playing in place of Varun Aaron? I don't understand the logic!" Slow pitch, with lots of turn expected.

Toss, 6.00 pm Graeme Swann calls tails. It's heads. India will ... err I don't know yet. MS Dhoni hasn't said what he wants to do. Finally he says India will bat.

India are not playing Varun Aaron and Gautam Gambhir from the fifth ODI. Gambhir got married over the weekend so has better uses for his time at the moment. Robin Uthappa gets an international game for the first time since 2008, and Yusuf Pathan, who's been sidelined from the ODI squad since the tour of West Indies, also gets a chance.

Uthappa will open with Ajinkya Rahane. Uthappa has played some monstrous innings in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, which is India's domestic T20 tournament. Not the IPL.

England will open their batting with Alex Hales. Swann said with a grin that Hales plays for the best county in England. He would of course, since it's Nottinghamshire. Hales has come in for Alastair Cook. England's other changes are - Kevin Pietersen, Jos Buttler and Jade Dernbach in; Jonathan Trott, Ian Bell and Stuart Meaker out.

Eden Gardens is only a quarter full according to Ganguly, so there are thousands and thousands of empty seats at the moment, waiting to be warmed.

5.50 pm Sourav Ganguly, on NEO sports, says the pitch is the same as the one that was used in the fifth ODI. India spun England dizzy in that game and Ganguly expects more turn today. Win the toss and bat first should be the way to go.

5.40 pm Hello and welcome to ESPNcricinfo's ball-by-ball coverage of the Twenty20 international at Eden Gardens. India have won the ODI series 5-0 and have the opportunity to send England home winless. How the tables have turned. The Tests count for a lot, though, and there aren't any on this tour.

The ICC released its T20 rankings last week and England, who are World Twenty20 champions, were ranked No. 1. It could be a short reign, if they lose today they'll slip to No. 3, below Sri Lanka and India. If they win, they'll stretch their lead over Sri Lanka.

Here's Dustin Silgardo's preview of the game.

Bresnan to Kohli, no run, a slower ball, which Kohli tries to hit too hard and mis-times on the leg side

Bresnan to Kohli, OUT, caught splendidly on the wide long-on boundary! Hales is the catcher. The beauty of that catch was in the amount of ground Hales had to cover by running to his left from deep midwicket. He got there in time and took it on the run on the edge of the boundary. Kohli had latched on to a short, slower ball and pulled it high over deep midwicket. He thought he had hit it into the gap, but Hales was too quick

Punit: "With Dhoni and Yusuf Pathan to come, and Raina in this kind of mood, India should aim at a minimum of 150-160 and at a stretch 170-180 if possible. 170-180 should be a winning score on this track." You're hard to please!

Patel to Tiwary, no run, Tiwary clears his front foot and tries to slog, can't beat midwicket

Patel to Tiwary, OUT, bowled him! Tiwary was struggling for timing and release on this pitch. He went down on one knee, moved his front foot out of the way, and attempted a huge slog across the line. He missed a flat and straight ball, which hit off stump

Bopara to Pathan, no run, huge appeal from Bopara as one swings sharply back into the right-hander and strikes the pad, that looked very close. Bopara is amazed that his appeal wasn't upheld. It looked plumb but the amount of swing may have created some doubt for the umpire

Bopara to Pathan, 2 runs, short of a length just outside off, Yusuf forces it towards deep midwicket

Gareth: "That's not the sort of player he is, you can't blame the failings of the top order on him. He's like Pollard, will get you a vital extra 30 runs in the last five overs, and help you chase down an increasing required run rate.
