India's injury problems continue with the seamer Vinay Kumar being ruled out of the Twenty20s against England due to a strained right calf muscle. He has been replaced by fast bowler Abhimanyu Mithun, his Karnataka team-mate.
Vinay is the third India player to pull out of the two-match series, starting on Thursday, due to injury. The middle-order batsman Manoj Tiwary was withdrawn due to a side strain, before the seamer L Balaji was ruled unfit due to a stress injury to his right big toe. Vinay, who was brought in as Balaji's replacement, will be out of action for two weeks.
Mithun has played four Tests and five ODIs for India, his most recent appearance coming against West Indies in an ODI in Chennai late last year. He has taken eight wickets in four Ranji Trophy matches this season.

BCCI has clearly lost it , how the hell can u include mithun and not pathan who has done exceedingly well in T20s....BCCI should start waking up soon!!!!!!!!!
Posted by StraightHit on (December 20, 2012, 9:37 GMT)Nothing against Vinay, but I think there are clearly better talent than him to invest. Played quite a few ODIs and looked a level below international class.
Posted by soumyas on (December 20, 2012, 8:07 GMT)@priyranjan,, Swing gets more wickets than Pace --wasim akram's opinion
Posted byAbu Nechim was better replacement than Mithun, why selectors always neglect this talent from Assam? It's a big question.
Posted by AbAdvani on (December 20, 2012, 4:20 GMT)Why is Irfan Pathan not in the team ? I don't understand this fascination of BCCI with sub standard players like Vinay Kumar -Vinay Kumar can neither bat nor field and even an off form Irfan is a better bowler than Vinay Kumar. The T20 and ODI formats are where you need allrounders -while irfan's bowling is pedestrian once the swing is gone, there's no denying that he is the only one close to a genuine allrounder we have in the team.
Posted byWhy is Varun Aaron not included in squad. Deserves it more as compared to Dinda and Mithun.
Posted byI dont understand what is the team selection going on..... Players like Praveen Kumar not picked for matches where as guy like Yuvraj is considered..... Quite Bizzareeeee................. Can we really have a good indian team for a gameto look at......
Posted byWhat is BCCI doing? Dont we have sports medicine that can prevent such injuries? Or is there any thing more in these things than what meets the eye?
Posted byyes, Why Abu Nachim is always neglected I think he is best on in t20
Posted byMithun & Chawla are the best players to represent India in intl Cricket. Selectors please include players like Balaji, Sreesanth Dinda, Come on guys give us some hope to win atleast in paper. Now a Days Indian team is not even winning in paper. For Past 5 years or so, Our seletors are including 1 or 2 players who is not even eligible to play for domestic cricket.
Note : In T20 we need bolwers who can either bowl fast or atleast swing it with military medium. Not like Zaheer and Mithun. Use Players like binny, Bhatia, etc, they atleast can perform.
