Patel fined 60% of match fee

Parthiv Patel has been fined 60% of the match fee after being charged with breaching Section 2.2 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which involved showing serious dissent at an umpire's decision by action or verbal abuse

Parthiv Patel has been fined 60% of his match fee after being charged with breaching Section 2.2 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which involves showing serious dissent at an umpire's decision by verbal abuse or through any action.
Patel was reported to Ranjan Madugalle, the match referee, by umpires Simon Taufel and Steve Bucknor, after he had appealed long and hard for several catches at the wicket. Television cameras also caught him swearing when one appeal was turned down. Patel had been reprimanded for a similar offence during India's recent tour of Australia.
India's frustration mounted as a number of close decisions went against them in the final session of play. Even the normally level-headed Anil Kumble got hot under the collar, although he escaped without censure. At one point Kumble nearly decapitated Inzamam-ul-Haq when he fired the ball back into the keeper, although Inzamam was alert enough to duck at the last minute.
There was an exchange of words between the two players, and Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar, before the umpires stepped in and defused the situation.
