India's injury problems continue with the seamer Vinay Kumar being ruled out of the Twenty20s against England due to a strained right calf muscle. He has been replaced by fast bowler Abhimanyu Mithun, his Karnataka team-mate.

Vinay is the third India player to pull out of the two-match series, starting on Thursday, due to injury. The middle-order batsman Manoj Tiwary was withdrawn due to a side strain, before the seamer L Balaji was ruled unfit due to a stress injury to his right big toe. Vinay, who was brought in as Balaji's replacement, will be out of action for two weeks.

Mithun has played four Tests and five ODIs for India, his most recent appearance coming against West Indies in an ODI in Chennai late last year. He has taken eight wickets in four Ranji Trophy matches this season.

BCCI has clearly lost it , how the hell can u include mithun and not pathan who has done exceedingly well in T20s....BCCI should start waking up soon!!!!!!!!!

Posted by CricketChat on (December 20, 2012, 9:37 GMT)

Nothing against Vinay, but I think there are clearly better talent than him to invest. Played quite a few ODIs and looked a level below international class.

@priyranjan,, Swing gets more wickets than Pace --wasim akram's opinion

Posted by   on (December 20, 2012, 6:54 GMT)

Abu Nechim was better replacement than Mithun, why selectors always neglect this talent from Assam? It's a big question.

Posted by AbAdvani on (December 20, 2012, 4:20 GMT)

Why is Irfan Pathan not in the team ? I don't understand this fascination of BCCI with sub standard players like Vinay Kumar -Vinay Kumar can neither bat nor field and even an off form Irfan is a better bowler than Vinay Kumar. The T20 and ODI formats are where you need allrounders -while irfan's bowling is pedestrian once the swing is gone, there's no denying that he is the only one close to a genuine allrounder we have in the team.

Posted by   on (December 20, 2012, 0:26 GMT)

Why is Varun Aaron not included in squad. Deserves it more as compared to Dinda and Mithun.

Posted by   on (December 19, 2012, 16:41 GMT)

I dont understand what is the team selection going on..... Players like Praveen Kumar not picked for matches where as guy like Yuvraj is considered..... Quite Bizzareeeee................. Can we really have a good indian team for a gameto look at......

Posted by   on (December 19, 2012, 16:27 GMT)

What is BCCI doing? Dont we have sports medicine that can prevent such injuries? Or is there any thing more in these things than what meets the eye?

Posted by   on (December 19, 2012, 16:21 GMT)

yes, Why Abu Nachim is always neglected I think he is best on in t20

Posted by   on (December 19, 2012, 15:15 GMT)

Mithun & Chawla are the best players to represent India in intl Cricket. Selectors please include players like Balaji, Sreesanth Dinda, Come on guys give us some hope to win atleast in paper. Now a Days Indian team is not even winning in paper. For Past 5 years or so, Our seletors are including 1 or 2 players who is not even eligible to play for domestic cricket.

Note : In T20 we need bolwers who can either bowl fast or atleast swing it with military medium. Not like Zaheer and Mithun. Use Players like binny, Bhatia, etc, they atleast can perform.

Posted by   on (December 19, 2012, 14:48 GMT)

I would say please ignore all old player.Bring young gun into the team..we are disappointing you guyz performance .

Posted by Ashwin_Nayak on (December 19, 2012, 13:36 GMT)

Earlier our bowlers played one match and got injured now our bowlers get injured even before playing a single match....

Posted by   on (December 19, 2012, 12:53 GMT)

Killerfantacy u must be kidding :P

The perfect team for Aus tour should be like this..

1. Rahane 2. Mukund 3. Pujara 4. Kohli 5. Raina/Rohit 6. Ashwin 7. Dhoni 8. Jadeja 9. Ishant 10. Yadav 11. Ojha 12. Praveen Kumar

Posted by priyranjan on (December 19, 2012, 12:47 GMT)

Genuine pace bowlers in india 1.) Umesh 2.) varun 3.) Imtiaz ahmed(UP) 4.) shami ahmed (WB) 5.) P Awana

All other bowler are just swing and medium pacers..

BCCI is scared to try out new players as it would decrease the viewership without the so called under performing superstars

Posted by   on (December 19, 2012, 12:35 GMT)

with reference to comment by Sunil Yadav, first of all let me thank you for good stats, I also follow cricket for last 30 years when there was no internet and no cricinfo we only had luxury of reading scores in newspaper, sportstar and monthly magazine called WORLD OF CRICKET and I can assure you from that time onwards these stupid selections are same. Many a bright would be stars came on the scene and faded due to these stupid selection policiies..The names you have mentioned in the list are very perfect because I am following from the first match of season and no where in the list there appears name of balaji, vinay or mithun but you know now if somebody else gets injured you will get another non performer from Tamil nadu or Karnataka, may be stuart binny, Yo mahesh or sateesh anybody for that matter but not players from other states who deserves it..

Posted by KrizRKO on (December 19, 2012, 12:23 GMT)

@ kc69 - Awana is already included in the T20 Squad

Best Possible XI - Rahane, Gambhir, Kohli, Raina, Yuvraj, Rayudu, Dhoni(C), Irfan, Ashwin, Awana, Dinda

Posted by   on (December 19, 2012, 12:14 GMT)

Why Abu Nechim is always neglected and why replacement is always from Karnataka, My best top 5 seamers of country- Umesh Yadav (Vidarbha), Parvinder Awana (Delhi), Abu Nechim (Assam), Jaydev Unadkat (Sau) and Ankit Chavan (Raj).

Posted by   on (December 19, 2012, 12:12 GMT)

its good from selector's . irfan i better than Abhimanyu Mithun

Posted by   on (December 19, 2012, 11:55 GMT)

If they had to select karnataka player...y not Robin Uthappa...he can bowl in same speed as either Mithun or Vinay Kumar...he is an explosive batsman and can be a very good wicket keeper...

Posted by   on (December 19, 2012, 11:19 GMT)

this selection is OK OK pr kya ise 1 bhi match me chance milega? i think a big no .... :o

Posted by   on (December 19, 2012, 11:03 GMT)

Top 10 ranji bowler in present session 1. Sandeep Sharma (Punjab) 37 wkts 2. MM Sharma (Haryana) 34 wkts 3. IC Pandey (Madhya Pradesh) 34wkts 4. R Dhawan (Himachal Pradesh) 32 wkts 5. S Narwal (Delhi) 29 wkts 6. Anand Rajan (Madhya Pradesh)29 wkts 7. S Kaul (Punjab) 29 wkts 8. S Nadeem (Jharkhand) 29 wkts 9. Shami Ahmed (Bengal) 28 wkts 10. Of all the guys we have Abhimanyu Mithun!! The selection process is so damned!!! Indian cricket can not go fwd with this idiocracy. PERIOD.

try out Jaydev Unadkat . atleast because he is a lefty for getting varieties

Anyone for Shami Ahmed... the bengal medium with an avg of only 11.66 in domestic T20.... !!

Posted by kc69 on (December 19, 2012, 8:53 GMT)

If Irfan Pathan,Varun Aaron and Umesh yadav are all injured why not play youngsters like Awana,Shami Ahmed or Sandeep Sharma

Posted by   on (December 19, 2012, 8:45 GMT)

This guy does reach a good pace. He is a handy bat lower down the order.. And I still remember that one handed catch he took next to the boundary line in a IPL match.. That was extra ordinary!!!! If he clicks, good for indian cricket, if not we might as well look at other options

Posted by Alok505 on (December 19, 2012, 8:15 GMT)

agree with guesswhat 555 , Basant Mohanty should be looked at , I feel sorry for Ishant Sharma . He should be selected for T20 in place of Vinay Kumar . I can not understand why selectors ignoring Ishant for limited over cricket .

Posted by   on (December 19, 2012, 7:56 GMT)

I am disappointed with this selection. I mean Mithun has not impressed anyone till now at any level. If selection was for heck of it than where is Praveen Kumar who till last year was considered the best bowler of India. I mean give the chap a call. Atleast he has proven himself.

Posted by   on (December 19, 2012, 7:55 GMT)

Irfan Pathan is injured. Half of the guys cry over here, without having the complete information about anything.

People are calling for Mithun's head. How many chances has this lad got? He's not selected for ODIs. He's selected for 2 T20s. What's wrong in that? I know he isn't a 140 kmph bowler but people in India are so obsessed with pace that whoever clocks 140+ becomes their favourite. Varun Aaron is half of the guy's favourite without playing as many matches as the years spent in cricket by Sachin.

This lad bowled very well in SriLanka when given chance in test cricket. In T20s,you need guys who can take pace off the ball. Atleast, give the chance to this lad. If he fails, fair enough.

The selection panel keep looking back and when it comes to give statement loudly say WE ARE TRYING TO BUILD A TEAM FOR FUTURE. There are so many and they are simply neglected saying we dont have any quality bowlers, I know few and very effective: 1. Abu Nacheem Ahmed (Fast bowler around 135-140) 2. Shami Ahmed (recently bowled making his side win) 3. Sandeep Sharma ( Playing along NEHRA and GONI still being outstanding) 4. R Dhawan (all rounder) india in search of

Posted by guesswhat555 on (December 19, 2012, 6:47 GMT)

Basant Mohanty! This lad seems to be a good bowler. Look at his first class average. Its around 22. Thats an amazing for an indian fast bowler bowling on flat indian pitches. How come i have not heard of him!hmm http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/content/player/324477.html And i agree with most of the comments here that these selectors are worse than the last one

Posted by krish_87 on (December 19, 2012, 6:47 GMT)

whatever we talk about the fact remains that, there is no quality pace bowlers in india and im afraid we are not producing any of them... That's the Truth the Whole Truth !!!

Posted by Navin_Thakur on (December 19, 2012, 6:45 GMT)

How about Rishi Dhawan from Himachal Pradesh. The guy bows at decent pace, has got close to 500 runs this Ranji season (three hundreds, strike rate of 70) and picked up 34 wickets.

Posted by Abimanyucbe on (December 19, 2012, 6:39 GMT)

where is irfan pathan? A best alrounder of our India.........

I dont why he is keep on neglected from the squad.................

Posted by   on (December 19, 2012, 6:30 GMT)

Bad Selection!!!.. Shami Ahmed would've got the breakthrough..He has done very well for India A as well as for Bengal..Definitely man with Raw pace..Vinay or Mithun surely will not click and they doesn't have the pace or skill to disquise opposition teams and neither of them doesn't have a big swing..In Indian conditions, Fast bowlers will succeed only if they bowl reverse swing. Without pace, this is not possible..Sandeep is also an bright prospect, but he has to play more first class games before making it to the squad..Selectors erred here by selecting Mithun...

Posted by NaveedSajid on (December 19, 2012, 6:26 GMT)

Totally ridiculous decision. Seems to be the region-wise quota system and currently this region lacks the quality player. Balaji>Vinay>Mithun. If he pulls out which is also possible, ultimately the curtain will be unveiled for the welcome of Stuart Binny. Pity shame. Based on the consistency Sandeep Sharma or Shami Ahmed should have been selected not the ordinary performer A.Mithun.

Posted by satish619chandar on (December 19, 2012, 6:20 GMT)

MITHUN!!! Still the mediocracy continues. the guys who saw IPL and CLT20's will never approve Mithun in a T20 game. I can't see any improvement in performance of the team if it is going to be a crap from all the quarters.

Posted by   on (December 19, 2012, 6:20 GMT)

lololololololol, the injury list keeps on munting, test match bowlers like u.yadav,v.aaron,s.sreesanth are injured as are the one day bowlers like i.pathan,p.kumar,m.patel and now v.kumar, feel sorry for selectors and i dont blame them for wrong pickings but they should do something about this injury management.

Posted by Jacobchikku on (December 19, 2012, 6:14 GMT)

This team should be called BCCI Eleven, This is not an Indian team going by this selection standards Sunil Gavaskar might fancy his chance of gettting into the T20 BCCI side.

Posted by   on (December 19, 2012, 4:58 GMT)

Ppl who comment about Vinay and Mithun shud be ashamed..... All of u are talking about current leading wicket takers in Ranji 2012 season.... When Vinay and Mithun were leading wicket takers in Ranji 2-3 seasons back, still u ppl did not praise their selection... Team India was served by grt Karnataka players (Most of them being bowlers) Whole of 90s was Karnataka bowlers in India... Some of u said that Mithun was tried.....How many times Irfan was tried? He bowls slower than Mithun and Vinay and yet he gets injured for 8 months a year....Just watch Mithun perform this time.

Posted by vishwa500 on (December 19, 2012, 4:56 GMT)

@saurabh2805: i think u should get matured first bcoz irfan is injured. @aniruddha kasyap: its shocking to see u shocked. should awana be selected for second time in same team?

Posted by jammyisgreat on (December 19, 2012, 4:56 GMT)

For all who are asking about irfan.. he is injured . and guys talking about parvinder awana.. guys check your knowledge. he is already in the squad.

Posted by ReverseSweepIndia on (December 19, 2012, 4:48 GMT)

what exactly is the selection criteria? They selected Sir Jadeja for tests, that was a very reasonable selection based on his form in duration cricket. Even if they go by IPL as basis of selection, Mithun was hammered even by domestic batsmen. Why not Awana? Is it not that again quota system has start to play role? Where is Irfan? My team (oops Dhoni's team) for T20: 1) Gambhir (have to keep in good humor) 2) Murali Vijay (CSK buddy) 3) Rohit Sharma (friend) 4) Yuvraj 5) Sir Jadeja (sir) 6) Dhoni 7) Chawla (friend) 8) RP Singh 9) Sachin (?) 10) Ishant (bowls well, has been since last 40 test matches, will do same in T20) 11) Kohli (need someone to make runs)

further, this this balaji was inducted by srinivasan ?

Posted by ReverseSweepIndia on (December 19, 2012, 4:39 GMT)

gosh, this is ridiculous. I don't think even after so much embarrassment (not losing but the way we lost) whole year, BCCI and its cronies in selection panel are going to mend their ways. I am not gonna watch these T20. BCCI won't listen but if I (I hope many join me) and few other can make realize advertisers that people are not watching this crap and no point putting money there.

Posted by   on (December 19, 2012, 4:02 GMT)

Is this the South Zone quota in the team? Balaji replaced by Vinay Kumar replaced by Mithun?

Posted by Bathinda11 on (December 19, 2012, 3:40 GMT)

This is really bad pick. Pankaj Singh and Sandeep Sharma are bowlers currently in form. Pankaj can hit the deck hard while Sandeep can swing it brilliantly, the chap played two world cups and now in form of his life ....this is the right time to give youngsters exposure to internatuiional cricket so that can be groomed ...Selectors not learning any thing ...

Posted by   on (December 19, 2012, 3:36 GMT)

Wow what a huge loss the most fearsome bowler we've ever produced out of that attack! the miracle of the IPL!! maybe we could ask Srinath or Mr Kapil Dev to come out of retirement, they could probably bowl faster than this guy

Posted by raghvender on (December 19, 2012, 3:25 GMT)

This is dam joke to select mithun instead of sanddep shrame, guys i think selectors are waiting to see white wash in t20's as well as tests..

People who are rooting for Irfan Pathan should know that he is injured for the season and has not been playing the Ranji also. http://www.espncricinfo.com/ranji-trophy-2012/content/story/589966.html

Posted by jsnaurvi on (December 19, 2012, 3:01 GMT)

Most of people who comments never look at Ranji Trophy ( Indian domestic competetion), they only look at IPL. For all those who cry for Irfan, MM Patel, Nehra, Varun Aron, and Umesh .. Please check Ranji trophy squads or stats all these players are injured and not playing. and also include Harbhajan who only play domestic if he thinks he has chance to be selected other wise he don't bother about it.

Posted by   on (December 19, 2012, 2:58 GMT)

Mithun? common you bunch of jokers...have some spine...use your brain...ridiculous selection...this guy lacks pace...no line length...no rythm...no swing.

Posted by   on (December 19, 2012, 2:43 GMT)

Irfan Pathan is out with injury....mates! Mithun is a good choice than Sandeep to play in T-20 simply because that would not ruin a career of a budding cricketer whose focus should be in Test Matches rather than Masala cricket! Moreover, the chances of Mithun playing is limited as well...Don't waste a younger cricketer sweating on benches like poor Rahane and Tiwary in test matches and ODIs respectively. I think Sandeep should be picked for Australian series. It is really a rubbish to claim that Anil Kumble had involved. Only fools can say like that....

Posted by   on (December 19, 2012, 2:26 GMT)

i dont know why irfan pathan always gets ignored hes been doing well with the ball and the bat what does the selectors want from him in every match where is varun aaron

Posted by jimbond on (December 19, 2012, 1:52 GMT)

Mithun doesnt even figure in the list of 40 top bowlers in Ranji this season. While he has taken 8 wickets, the top wicket takers like Sandeep Sharma has taken 37, IC Pandey &MM Sharma 34, and Rishi Dhawan (who also has scored about 500 runs at an average of 70+) has taken 32 wickets. I dont know how the selectors take decisions.

Posted by Punjami on (December 19, 2012, 1:36 GMT)

The selectors were once called "bunch of jokers" and there was a big furore over such a comment. But they have once more proved that they fit the expression in letter and spirit! Men may come and men may go, but the joker job continues. GOD SAVE INDIAN CRICKET.

Posted by   on (December 19, 2012, 1:31 GMT)

Very Very fine selection! one non-performer should always be replaced by another non performer. Never look at Shreesanth, Sanddep Sharma, Pankaj Singh, Parwinder Awana etc. They may perform. Kudos Shrinivasan & Sandeep Patil & Company

Posted by jimbond on (December 19, 2012, 1:30 GMT)

I think Irfan Pathan is currently injured. Hence he doesnt figure in teams- which is understandable. Awana is already in the T20 squad and so is Bhubaneswar Kumar. But yes, it it is difficult to understand what Mithun has done recently to deserve this call. In the latest match, he did take 4 wickets, but that was in an effort against Vidharba - where Mithun and his pals could not get even ten wickets in the entire match. Among his other teammates- Stuart Binny has performed much better as a bowler this season - and also has batted well. It it was to be a Karnataka player- Binny would have been better. Otherwise, it would have been better to try out real performers like Ishwar Pandey (MP) or to a lesser extent- Sandeep Sharma. Even Narwal has bowled better than Mithun. The only hope is that Mithun would be carrying the drinks, he would not play. His inclusion could only affect his Ranji team's performance adversely.

Posted by   on (December 19, 2012, 0:22 GMT)

Sandeep Patil is making Srikkanth look like a genius so far ,The BCCI and N Srinivisan are the ones who unfortunately are dictating selection .Mohinder Amarnath has already commented on how N Srinivasan essentially vetoed the sacking of Dhoni as captain after the Australia series .As Amarnath did not want to be a puppet he was replaced by Sandeep Patil who apparently mind dosent mind being one . Why is Irfan Pathan not in side????? It absolutely makes no sense . At this stage im just so fed up of the politics in the Indian side .I just give up .

Posted by Batmanindallas on (December 19, 2012, 0:21 GMT)

Most people dont read Irfan is injured hence he is not playing Ranji and Awana is in the squad.....

England will miss Vinay's juicy lollipops. Sadly KP has been rested for the T20s.

Posted by saurabh2805 on (December 18, 2012, 22:02 GMT)

why our selectors doesn't get matured? where is Irfan Pathan, he is a very good seamer, even he can bat also very nicely, he has proven himself in t20 world cup and series against Sri Lanka also, bring him back guys, he will rock on the field

Posted by   on (December 18, 2012, 21:55 GMT)

@sony_sr: I believe the reason is that each region has a soft quota and hence Vinay had to be replaced by his Ranji teammate, selectors can't do anything differently here.

Posted by kc69 on (December 18, 2012, 21:40 GMT)

Therefore they managed to keep Irfan Pathan out of the series

Posted by   on (December 18, 2012, 21:38 GMT)

Sandip Pattil (Chief selector)must be on sober when he decided these replacements. Thank god they didnt bring Agarkar. Where's Praveen kumar, & a proper T20 bowler Harmeet Singh(Kings XI punjab) , why they dont see this guy? Whats really happening inside this selection panel? Gavaskar saying make Kohli a test captain, Ganguly saying make Gambhir the captain, Dravid saying we need Sachin for next two years, Dhoni saying batsmen not scoring runs( with a big smile, forgetting that he is also a batsman), Sehwag is net practicing against Anderson, Gambhir is giving catch practice to english slip fielders, Chawla trying to bowl spin. BCCI is not at all focused on developing cricket, seems the focus is on keeping their money bowl cricket states and their bodies happy by selecting a bunch of beanbags(chawla, vinay, mithun)

Posted by   on (December 18, 2012, 21:16 GMT)

This is a joke, really! Why not give chance to a young new player like Sandeep Sharma who played extremely well in India's U-19 WC early this year? This current selection panel is turning out to be worse than previous one...

its anil kumble who forced this selection. cant believe it

Posted by   on (December 18, 2012, 19:57 GMT)

Absolute Shocker. Awana does amazingly well in the IPL and Ranji. Gets called to the Test Squad, Sweeps the bench squeaky clean and he still doesnt get a chance when 3 of your frontline Fast Bowlers are injured. How Does Mithun with 8 wickets in 4 matches and an eco of 9.03 deserves the place instead of Parvinder Awana? T

What a poor decision done by bcci ! A Mithun ??? what he done for Ranji Trophy Matches in 2012 ??? Kindly give a chance to sandeep Sharma ..highest wickt taker in ranji tropy 2012 ,he got 37 wickets in just 7 matches and don't forgot that he is a star of under 19 world cup 2012!!

The selectors are currently have so much confusions as indian team is going through bad phase so they are giving chance to any of the player which comes in their mind...

Commenters, please do not be so narrow-minded and say that only Indian bowlers get injured. Cricinfo is a global website, and if you take some pains to read articles from other nations, you can see that bowlers ALL AROUND THE WORLD are getting injured and are falling like 9 pins everyday. Some readers show their ignorance by stating that the Indian bowlers have been injured "even before the match has started". Just shows that this commenter knows absolutely nothing about the Ranji and is ready to blatantly comment without reason or logic. Mithun is the right pick - he isnt performing for his state - the Indian team needs a replacement - he will definitely not be in the starting line up with Dinda and Awana in the side - instead of picking and then benching players like Pankaj Singh and Shammi Ahmed during the Ranji, this is the best option the management has. Learn to read between the lines.

Wow! So Mithun is a replacement of a replacement! If I remember correctly Balaji was the original selected player who was replaced by Vinay due to injury. Then Mithun replaces Vinay because he is injured. It's musical chairs.

I thought Vinay being injured would be a blessing in disguise for the Indians... But, alas, they replaced one mediocre bowler with another mediocre one!

I dnt knw wat hav dese fast(!) bowlers done to get injured ...

In a country where a bowler like R P Singh being recalled into the test side from his holidays, where he hasn't played for a number of months, something like this is not a big issue. I am not surprised, and won't be even if Joginder Sharma finds a place in the current test team.

It is unfortunate that selectors doesnt find it suitable to select, top domestic performers like Sandeep Sharma,MM Sharma, IC Pandey, R Dhawan, S Narwal, S Kaul, Shami Ahmed, rather they are happy in fullfilling Southzone quota with lame ballers like Balaji f/b Vinay kumar f/b A Mithun....I am sure Mithun himself would have been surprised with his inclusion.....

So many players esp fast bowlers getting injuries... Is it that BCCI do not have any physios/trainers for them to keep fit OR it is a Indian gene issue?

Posted by sony_sr on (December 18, 2012, 17:05 GMT)

why can't we try out shami ahmed instead. mithun already proved he does not belong to international class.

Posted by   on (December 18, 2012, 17:04 GMT)

unbelievable!!! Abimanyu mithun on current form dosnt deserve a place even in Karnataka side. This selection committee is so dumb ,sure there is definitely a quota system in selection prevailing!!

if they have given chance to any newplayer it could have been better..

We used have a nice player by name Irfan Pathan. Not sure if he is injured?? He is campaigning in Gujarat.

Posted by   on (December 18, 2012, 16:52 GMT)

I don't think his absence will make any difference.. But i am worried about Indian fast bowlers especially who seem to spend half of their careers sitting out due to injuries. I am surprised that BCCI is not taking enough care of players..

The fitness of our Indian cricketers is really pathetic. Ganguly had raised a very good point that these highly paid cricketers should spend on a personal physical trainer (dont think that is happening in most cases).

This is hilarious Indian pace bowlers get injured more then any other bowlers in world cricket today. The matches that the player was selected for hasn't even started yet and he is already injured. This is just a blunt example of the stamina and endurance of the Indian pace bowlers today.

And how is this guy any better...where is Varun Aaron??

Posted by   on (December 18, 2012, 16:06 GMT)

Where is Varon Aaron probably fastest in india

Posted by   on (December 18, 2012, 15:58 GMT)

Why they have kept Irfan Pathan out of t20 squad...total nonsense selections..

Posted by Romenevans on (December 18, 2012, 15:51 GMT)

Mithun replaced Vinay Kumar....what a joke! Both are worthless!

Posted by   on (December 18, 2012, 15:50 GMT)

No way worthless better than abhi

Posted by   on (December 18, 2012, 15:47 GMT)

Can't fathom what has he done to merit a place. It is obvious quota system is in play. Vinay out, in comes Mithun from Karnataka.

Shud have taken Zaheer ,not a bad bet in t20 """""raj

Posted by   on (December 18, 2012, 15:45 GMT)

Where is Shami Ahmed 30 odd wickets in Ranji Trophy

Posted by   on (December 18, 2012, 15:45 GMT)

With their military pace, these bowlers get injured more often than say Bret Lee or Shoaib Akthar.

Posted by Nampally on (December 18, 2012, 15:44 GMT)

Why not with Shami Ahmad, Sandeep Sharma or Kulkarni? They are all good seamers. Mithun was tried but failed.

Posted by jsnaurvi on (December 18, 2012, 15:44 GMT)

So the criteria for selection in Indian team is to be poor performer in domestic matches, examples are Mithun, Chawla and M Vijay (all these are in poor form this year).

Posted by passionate_cricket_follower on (December 18, 2012, 15:33 GMT)

good. in any case he's a worthless bowler.
