In the Trinidad Test Match, the Zimbabwean victory target of 99 was the second lowest ever which a team has failed to achieve. The lowest score was England's target of 85 against Australia at The Oval in 1882, which led to the creation of the Ashes matches. England could only muster 77.
Cricinfo readers will be surprised to learn of Andy Flower's rare achievement in this test match. Flower scored a century (113*) in a match where no other batsman could score even a fifty. (Such is the quality of West Indian pitches of late). Flower became only the seventh man to achieve this rare feat, and only the second ever to do so in a match where all four innings were completed, the previous one being G.M.Wood over 21 years ago.
Hereunder is a list of batsmen who have scored a century in a game where no other batsman has scored even a fifty:
H.Wood (134*) England v SA Cape Town 1891-92 A.J.L.Hill (124) England v SA Cape Town 1895-96 Hanif Mohammad (103*)Pakistan v NZ Dacca 1955-56 D.T.Lindsay (131) SA v Australia Johannesburg 1966-67 † G.M.Wood (100) Australia v England Melbourne 1978-79 I.T.Botham (114) England v India Bombay 1979-80 † A.Flower (113*) Zimbabwe v West Indies Port-of-Spain 1999-2000
† denotes that all four innings were completed during the match.
